Look who you are talking to. This is South Carolina. A trip to the Piggly Wiggly can net you a big basket of "pork brains in milk gravy", "pickled pigs feet", and "chicken gizzards". Personally, I think I'd rather chew rocks.

It's long as heck, but kind of interesting what some people eat.

The lack of flouride in bottled water is not a myth according to what I have read but there is a debate about the benefits of flouride in general. The FDA requires bottled water to be labled as having fluoride if it is added. Since I lack a degree in waterology I can only go by what I read

What happened to the discussion on bottled water? How did this thread get onto chicken?

Al - We have fairly low pressure water here in SF as all new construction or remodeling requres lowflow fixtures and I think the water dept turned down the pressure as well. These are water conservation measures. Periodically we have lttle or no rainfall and then rationing starts. Is there some type of RO filter canister/container that I can use like perhaps the Brita system that allowsyou to keep treated water in the refrigerator?

Havoc, the "myth" I speak of is: Someone telling you that putting flouride in the drinking water has some large scale effect on tooth decay. The amount of flouride needed, and the amount of water consumed per diem , is far from reality. Shemp, a Brita is not reverse osmosis, but a fliter based on a charcoal element, I believe. RO is not fast, so some storage is needed.

I'm sure sitting in a manky plastic bottle can't do anything very much good, I notice that you get weird plastic tastes if you leave water in there too long

There is a big push here in Japan to move to a flouridized water system. Our on base water treatment system is being copied by the Japanese to add flouride to the local drinking water to "prevent tooth decay". The Japanese are very clean and have the best dental care available but if you walk around here you will see that their teeth in general are not as good as ours (stereotypically).

There are places in the world where bottled water is a must. In the desert our troops get pallets upon pallets of bottled water delivered daily. I've been to places in South and Central America as well as Asia and the Middle East where bottled water is the only source of "guaranteed" fresh water.

I think people in the US are just too lazy to plan ahead and fill up water at home to take it with them.

Good Flying!!

Don't drink water! Most of what you need is contained in the food you eat.

They say if you wait until you're thirsty you're already dehydrated. what a load of crap. If that were true animals/people would die from a lack of water

I tried drinking the "recommended" daily amount of water once and I had to pee every 8 minutes. Working your system overtime like that just can't be good.

8 glasses of water a day is a myth promoted to sell you a lot of overpriced water.
