Anybody has one of theese?

http://www.heliproz.com/hydratork.html

I've shelled out 100 bucks for the think.Went out today all excited,to the field to try it out.Worked perfect, cranked 90 over no proble.
Only one problem,worked about 5 min.On the 3rd start,something snaped inside and motors were spining,but shaft didn't.

Not really excited anymore, guess what gos back to heliproz for refund.

I have a Century high zoot starter that I think is doing the same thing. Try this and see if it is the same problem:

Can you pull the start shaft in and out of the starter by about one eighth of an inch? What mine was doing was coming internally disengaged when you put downward pressure on the starter when starting the heli. If you pulled the start shaft AWAY from the starter, it would re-engage the gears and work ok. What I did was take a couple nylon spacers in between the starter and the start shaft to pull the gears into engagement. I agree, you shouldn't have to jury-rig a new, expensive starter, but I bought mine at a funfly and can't return it, so I just fixed it. If my explanation wasn't clear, let me know.

first time I saw one of those was to the HPI savage great for a small motor
but using it on a heli I didn't think it would hold up
I would get a credit from them and get a better starter

cone on the starter won't even move, even when forcing it by hand.

I had one of those century mini starters with gearbox, starter went bad and Ihad it sitting in the box for a while.
I've used gearbox from it and attached it to my Dynatron(well not me,I had somebody with "skills" do it),don't have it ready yet,but I'm sure that'll do the trick.

Well I dont know where you all bought yours but I got to use mine for the first times this weekend. I bought the dual one from Heliproz it has the start cone so I can start my planks and the wand so I can start my helis.. It started my 70 like it didnt exist.. Stuck it to my OS 1.60 on my katana and it turned it like it didnt exist.. So I dont know about the failures above that you all mentioned about it not working.. The only negative comment that came out of this thing at the field was they didnt want one... why you ask? As much as 91's hydralock they are afraid it would just bust the con rods... That is the quote.. this thing will turn over anything within reason that you stick to it.. twin 540 motors geared to hell and back. It has my vote and I will just have to pay close enough attention to my motors not to use it if they are locked up

This Is the Starter I Use !
http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/me..._Code=0Starters
I have 2 1900 SCR batt. Packs on it and it cranks the OS 91 C-Spec like there was no Tomorrow...
It is about half the Size & Weight of a Dyna-Tron Starter

I just noticed in the current Tower Hobbies Speed Mart catalog that DuraTrax released a Kwik-Pit starter for vehicles that use a pull start. If you look at the picture, it is absolutely identical to the HydraStart, except for the shaft that comes out of the front of the starter.

They're selling for $32 including the backplate for the engine. I wonder if this could be easily adapted to work with helis and planks? Can't beat the price!

MiniMax cannot turn a new OS70
I have a new OS 70 in a Raptor 60. I bought a new Century MiniMax Starter. The gear and pin slipped on the first day I tried it. Replaced pin and put in washers to remove free play. No more slippage. But still won't turn the engine. The starter get really hot and smoke seeps out from the shrink wrap around the wire. Any suggestions?

Still going
Many, many starts with my Hydratork with still no issues but one... Since I have planks and helis I thought I would get the one with the cone and removable start shaft.. Word of warning do not take this thing and try to start a heli with freshly charged batteries.. be lucky if the wobbler dont hurt your privates lol.. Burn off a minute or two of juice before applying that speed to your heli. If I had it to do all over again I would have gotten the one with the bolted on start shaft. This puppy is powerfull it will turn over everything you got all weekend long and a charge last forever. Be very careful with hydralocked engines I can see the posibility of bending a con rod in a heartbeat..

Got mine back from Heliproz.Instead of crediting me for it,they fixed it and send it back.Worked great, like you said lot of torque, but no speed.Anyway worked for 1 hour and KIA.This time I've took it apart and METAL gear was stripped completly.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

I've fitted a gearbox on my Dynatron and that can spin 350 chevy.

I will as soon as I'll get it back from friend of mine.
Basicly I've took gearbox from one of thoose mini starters(century),made a bracke and fit pinion on Dynatron shaft.I've already had bat.pack.Now even with mild charge it can turn over 90 ,but unlike Hydro starter it can do it with some speed.
