I have my opinions but they're not going to persuade or dissuade others.
If your opinions are factual in nature, maybe they will persuade or influence others. That's what makes it great to live in a country like ours. You're able to express your views and opinions without having to worry about being locked up or executed. Dissent is not a bad thing and in many cases it's actually a good thing. It brings awarness to issues that people find important regardless of which side of the issue you take. Does that make you a subversive? Not in this country it doesn't. At least not yet.

Lets see No WMD's, No link to 9/11 and a deadly and determined insurgence kill our troops everyday. Listening to Fox News and Rush Bimbo is not seeking the truth.
That's the regurgitation I was talking about. It's just the same thing over and over and over and over....
And I'm not even trying to argue about it. I was just trying to take the time to educate myself in human behavior. I just can't grasp the concept that continuing the same argument day after day accomplishes anything. There is so much more to think about that can actually make you feel good about life than....

I try to spend my time creating and building things, not tearing things apart. However, if spouting off about it is the end result, then I understand, and you guys have a ball. Just as long as you're not trying to make a difference I guess I understand. I was just saying I couldn't figure out the point of it all. (Once again, not just on this forum. EVERYWHERE, and from both sides of the fence.)

I doubt it. In this day and age, everybody seems to be so closed minded and convinced that only THEY are right, you would be better off convincing a stop sign that it's really a circle. I've spent some time reading through a lot of the posts, and it seems to be an all out war right here on our own soil. I just thought I'd try to get some enlightenment before people start logging on, starting their propaganda war, and my posing a simple question being misconstrued as some sort of a "I'm right, you're wrong" type of thing.

If you don't have an opinion one way or the other that's fine but to condemn others for having and expressing one is wrong, regardless of who said it and how many times it's been said. The solution for your dilemna is simple. You don't have to listen or read any of it. If you're apolitical that's no one's business but yours but there's some people who have very strong views on political, religious and social issues that they have the right to comment on.

Dude, don't throw in the towel so quickly. If you feel strongly enough about something, don't be afraid to speak your mind. Yeah, you may take a little heat now and then but giving up on your position isn't the answer. Hang in there.

I DO have an opinion, and I'm not condemning you for expressing yours. I was simply asking what point it's getting across, when the same person says the same thing over and over again? If I came on here and started threads saying "my 'XYZ' helicopter is better than yours" day after day after day, what point would I be getting across? I wouldn't be, unless I was a savant or something. And God nobody start flaming me for insinuating anyone is a savant. Why do you think I'm condemning you?

I'm not apolitical. I have very strong political views. And religious views. AND views on social issues. VERY STRONG. I just don't feel like throwing them in the faces of everybody else makes a difference. If I say " Bush is right, you are wrong.", or "Bush is an idiot, Kerry should have won.", there will only be two possible outcomes. You will agree with me (What's the point? My opinion is not based on what you think.), or you will disagree with me (What's the point? My opinion is not based on what you think.). If you have "facts" to prove me wrong I will dismiss them as propaganda. And vice versa. Nothing is accomplished. Now two people that could have been friends now leave thinking "he is an idiot". That's why it is good sense to not talk about politics and religion with people you first meet. That's where my question lies. What do you feel like you're accomplishing? If you admit nothing is accomplished, and you're simply venting or blowing hot air or whatever, then I understand more why these topics continue to thrive here. If you feel like you are powerless over things that bother you, I understand frustration and the resulting anger, which leads to venting. However, If you think you are truly accomplishing something, I would love to be open minded right now and learn more about how other people think, which will only result in me being better at interpersonal relationships, and social communication. Please help me if you can.

No worries, mate! You won't catch me blowing smoke about political stuff here. My opinion doesn't need affirmation. I was just waiting for the paint to dry on my Cessna and thought I'd try to learn a little more about others and the way they think. But, I just checked, it's all dry, I've learned basically nothing, and hopefully haven't left Helimex thinking I'm against him or Sealerman. Back to my new project. See you guys with some new brainteasers later.....

True. I was referring to why folks everywhere still argue about the same points over and over. It just seems wasteful to me. Most of the folks here seem EXTREMELY intelligent. I think if all the folks here on RR got together there wouldn't be much that couldn't be overcome. Maybe that's my answer. The bickering comes out of boredom. Advanced minds need to fill the time thinking about something I guess...

(Now I'm waiting for the darn epoxy to cure.... )
