Hey Alan,
Did you have to add some ballast to get it within weight and balance??
I bet that first solo liftoff was wierd for ya, that thing is hovering super tail low!!

Good job buddy, I remember you telling me in sacramento that you weren't gonna start until March, guess you found an alternative huh?!?

Just wait till you start doing some confined area and pinnacle operations, that's where the fun begins! Oh yeah, and maneuvering autos can be a blast too...

Study hard and take lots of pictures...

BTW, I just passed the oral portion of my CFI checkride yesterday, the flight portion got postponed due to bad weather!

That's some nice pics Alan. Nice pimpin' FBI hat too!

I am surprised you are allowed to fly so close to Hoover Dam, figured places like that were no fly zones after 9/11. Did you have to get clearance or can anyone fly over that place anytime they want, one pic looked like you were almost right over the dam?

You can fly over it whenever you want. There isnt really any rules just monitor the dam area traffic, because of the tour helicopter fly over it on the way to the grand canyon.

Hey Alan, it looked good to see you on Sunday. Damn Randy wanted to talk as you flew by/over. He can't talk and fly at the same time. Nice pictures.

Thumbs up!
Congratulations, Alan,

Enjoy the sights, and follow your father's advice. These great machines we love so much demand respect and restraint. Let it all hang out with the models, but fly the real thing like your life depends on it.

Gigi

My heli spending has gone way down since I got a Honda 919 :-)

How do you guys afford to pay for helicopter training???? I REALLY want my heli license but theres no way I can afford the training at $245 an hour. I am having to settle for fixed wing training at $115 an hour and am straining just to pay for it.

Its hard to pay for it very hard I wasnt fortunate to find the money to pay for it I had to work for it.. Its hard but if you really want to do something bad enough you have to find a way to make it happen.

Its worse over here in the uk very expensive compared to the U.S. approx £10,000 for a PPL and £40,000 for a CPL.

So far I (Dad) hasn't had to put one penny towards the flying lessons. Alan has been saving his money for this day of flying a real helicopter.
