A friend just asked me to assemble a zoom 400 for him. I comes with the stock plastic blades, stock motor, and Jeti 20A esc. Power is three sets of 1500mah 3cell lithiums. Servos will be Hitech HS 56HB all around. They gyro is a little Cirrus mpg-6.

First off, anyone have any experience with the gyro? I don't even think it is a heading hold unit. How does one fly a non heading hold gyro on an electric heli that has a constantly changing pitch/throttle curve as the battery packs deplete? Sounds like a nightmare to me.

I happen to have an axi 2208/34 and an axi 2212/26 motor from my electric planes. I also have a Hacker B2012L w/4:1 gear box installed. For esc I have a pheonix 25. Would any of these motors be a good option compared to stock?

Any other tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. I have never built one of these micro electrics. Chime in if you know something that I SHOULD KNOW!!!

hi
i know pp run an axi 2208/20 and its a good motor performance wise so i would think of the two you have the 2212/26 would be the one to try and the p-25 would be fine too , i'm sure ppl here would be interested to hear what you think of that motor combination , and yes with a non hh gyro you will have to fly the tail , think of it as a challenge in a month or two you will have the worlds smartest left thumb really non hh gyros arent the best but a lot of ppl do fly with them

These AXIs have too low Kv for Shogun - the pinion needed is so large it would not fit the frame. People use higher Kv 2208/20 with 3-5s packs with great results though (5s for extreme 3D setup). Your 2208/34 will work fine on a 5s1p pack, external BEC and a 15-16T pinion but not on a 3s1p pack.
