I just opened the box on my Raptor 90STD. Should I install the bearings as they come out of the box or should I use the greaser on them?

I believe they come with grease in them. If you have a greaser, it doesn't take long, so you might as well put more in there.

Grease Them.

I have had new bearings fail after a few flights, since I got the greaser I have not had any bearing failures. I grease all bearings (except engine bearings) before I install them.

I always grease new bearings. The grease that comes in the bearing gets moved out of the bearing as the good stuff is squeezed in. People that use The Greaser with quality grease, rarely, if ever replace bearings due to wear. As always, YMMV.

Al...I wish. Although it is going together quickly, I probably won't be able to fly it for a while anyway...the snow starts tonight.

the grease that comes in many bearings is crap. I think its purpose is to keep them from rusting while in shipment or to be used in areas were it will not see so many rpms. Do yourself the favor and grease them while you can.

What's a greaser?
So what is this "greaser" you are all talking about. How about a link? And what grease should be used?

Thanks!

The Greaser, available from Rick's. Here's a link http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/me...ct_Code=GREASER As for the grease, many use the Bosch purple tool grease. I use a quality automotive wheel bearing grease.

I ordered a bottle of union 76 along with the greaser. Only some $2 and works great.
