Crashing the computer is one thing. But crashing your heli along with it... - no thanks!

Ok, it might actually work but I am very suspicious.

How many of you actually have sean a windows ce device crash..???
Windows xp and ce are VERY different operating systems.
Just because it has the Microsoft name doesnt mean it is prone to crashing. Do guys really think that Futaba would use it on their flagship radio if it was so bad....

    Obsessed and proud of it!!!

I second that... My Win-blows based OS on my desktop is hammered by third party software, spyware, virus, trojans - you name it. Futaba will have Microsoft strip down this version of Windows CE with nothing but the essentials - no e-mail, web surfing, or stupid problems that exist between the keyboard and chair. I'm sure it will be stable.

Bottom line -- I like where this is going :-)

Just think for a second WHY every computer company uses it....
It works!! Sure there are problems.. But every one writes programs for there OS's. Lets take a pole and see how many RR users actually use something other than a Windows OS.. Sure lets all switch to Linux!
The only guys I know that use Linux and nothing else are UBER GEEKS! By the way I have bean a network engineer for 14 years...and I have seen the proggression from DOS Netware OS2 Unix and so on.
    Windows works darn good...

    Obsessed and proud of it!!!

The most exciting part about this radio is the ability for anyone to write custom software for it since it operates on standard windows CE.

Think of the possibilities! Use any available channel to transmit data (ie heat, rpm, forward speed, anything) down to the TX and have a custom UI to display the information in anyway you choose.

Customized UI for standard TX info. Don't like where the timer is? Move it!

The possibilities really do make it almost worth the $$...

As for you guys getting "hammered" by third party software, crashes, spyware, etc. I suggest you learn how to use your computer. It's incredibly easy to prevent all that.

Hey I resemble that ;-) Easy on the uber-geek comments.

A Linux OS would be awesome for this application no doubt. My reasons for posting this were to highlight the cool ways technology is making its way into our hobby, not which OS is more stable. Futaba will get their poop in a group before launching a product that is flakey - I can promise you that.

Does anyone else find it pointless for them to boast about response time? I mean, who can detect the difference between you moving the stick and the servo doing its thing

I bet you don't have an IPAQ. If you do and have never had to soft reset, your one lucky man. That's the first step in our support protocol, and it fixes at least half of the problems that we see.

System crashes aside (which ahve been addressed by separating the programming / control circuits), maybe we'll see an SDK one day where the TX can be tweaked. Piroflip button?

    2200 dollars
Man this radio is sold for $2200 on towerhobbies.com....

I don't know others but I cannot affort this much. But it looks definitely perfect.

I wish I was sponsered by Futaba.

I could buy 2-3 helicopters with $2200 by sticking with my old and enough 9C.

Last but not least good radio doesn't make a good pilot.

That's when you know you have maor money than what to do with. For the tore that I work at to get it, it's like $1800 cost. Retail is $3200 so it's somewhere in between for the purchase price.

I am sure Futaba is a great radio but I love my JR. It's a breeze to program and I have never (knock on wood) had any problems. Just my $.02.

Practice! It might be costly but it's the only way we get better!

I am sure the transmitter is independant of the win ce processor whilst flying, I certainly hope so.
