OK, I have one of the new Raven 50 kits. I've had a few problems in getting this together although HeliCopter World has been very helpful. The last item I have to get figured out is the Tail Pitch Control Rod & connector.

In the book, it states that center to center, the distance should be 823mm and for thr R30 it should be 763mm. This is the same in the new and old manual.

When I measure on mine, the distance is 704mm! This means that when I put the 2 rods end to end, they measure more than the 704 and once I put ball links on they would fit the 763mm (not the 823mm).

Can someone with a Raven measure their Tail Pitch Control Rod with connector, center to center and let me know what that distance is?

Thanks;

Raven Tail
I may not be much help but I'll try. The Z-bend on my raven was much too long. I thought I had the wrong tail boom and torque tube. We put my raven 50 beside a Raptor and Voyager 50. They were all close in distance from mainshaft to tail rotor shaft. I think the Voyager was slightly longer and the Raptor was shorter, but they were close. I redid a Z-bend and it worked fine. I eventually replaced with direct carbon fiber push rod. I moved the tailrotor servo mount to the left side of the heli and have the ouput shaft to the back of the heli with the control arm down. I had to measure in inches and convert but came up with 688mm. I think they made a mistake on the Z-bends. I have heard several others with the same comment. The straight shaft was cheap and easy. I picked up an airplane carbon fiber pushrod kit that has 4-40 connectors on the end. I tapped a rocket city ball link connector for 4-40 and was done. It is super smooth. We test flew the tail on a day with 20 gusting 30 with some higher. She held solid during forward and back flips crosswind as well as back flips going backwards into the wind. I am not flying stock tail blades. I think I am running V-102s. Good luck with the pushrod.

Mine was too long also. At first I thought I might have an Raven 30 boom but I use Falcon booms on one of my Concept 50s and it is the same lenght. The lenghts for the pushrod they give in the manual make no sense at all. I didn't want to wait to call Century so I used a carbon pushrod.

The only other thing I didn't like was the tail rotor pitch slider setup. If your not careful the pitch slider fork can bind against the bellcrank arm mount on the tail rotor case. I used a pitch slider fork for a Concept 60 and now I can get full travel on the output shaft with no chance of binding and more pitch range.

I used an extra small bronze spacer from the countershaft assy that i had. It was the perfect I.D. and width to slide on the tail shaft . This spacer just keeps the tail pitch slider from hitting the tail bellcrank mounting bracket. This method still gives me plenty of tail pitch.
I also used the fiberglass tail rod, installing century rods in each end so I could use original ball links.

If I get a carbon Fibre rod or aluminum arrow shaft, how do I attach the Century Ball Links so they won't come out "regardless"?

Also what diameter of CF rod have folks used?
