Hi Guy's

Anyone have info as to availability of the 50 hyper.

I have spent the last 4 days trying to track down two of these endangered species. Admittedly my seach has not extended to the US of A, this in part is due to the unfavourable customs situation. Feed back from dealers from as far as signgapore tiwan and europe is OS aint got any to distribute.

Has OS got a problem or have we got a marketing ploy, witch would not be the first time

135 is a pretty good price the helikraft price works out at 101 and then add postage amd VAT/Duty it will be cheaper but not much. I got my 135 inc postage i think thats not bad.

I don't think its England ripping you off, I think you'll find its OS. If they gave a s*$t about your business they'd make it available at the right price in your market.

Guess they're still having the last laugh

Thumper - what a baseless and foolish remark to make. OS doesn't control the price so much as its distributors do but the fact you live the UK drives it up even more due to import duties and VAT. The only laughing going on is at the remark you made.

Dream on Shemp. There's been plenty of threads on UK pricing but the fact remains that Far East stock dumping doesn't help anyone. HK probably gets through nearly as many OS50s as the US. A simple overview of the demographics will indicate an unusual differential in market size.

To put it another way, your US distributors who represent the biggest market in the world, and therefore with buying power to match, still can't compete with far east suppliers. What on earth leads you to the conclusion that OS doesn't control its pricing?

So what does this mean? Dave Wilshere carries stock but customers don't buy it. It doesn't take a genius to work out the long term impact of that for our hobby in the UK. So I stand by my remarks, and would urge you to break with tradition and consider more than the 2D view

Thumper - I still think your logic is more than just a bit twisted on this subject. If OS prices in the Far East were so attractive than many here would be ordering OS engines from there but we normaly don't as a rule. Check out Rotor Enterprises in Singapore for example. After the currency convesion is made their OS prices are close to what we pay here and when shipping is added it can sometimes be more than here. Its even worse for YS engines.
Ishii Mokei's prices are no bargains as well once you make the currency conversions. I think you are way off base here trying to make OS the ogre for gouging people who buy their engines.

Shemp, the tax free price of the OS50 (non hyper!) in the UK is GBP140, that equates to $266 (albeit the dollar rate is unusually high currently). These price differentials are way too high.

I think you'll find a lot of US fliers are buying directly from the Far East also, and thats despite the weak dollar. So the impact is, OS still get the business, but effectively the user has no warranty or back up service. I just don't think this type of situation is healthy for the hobby.

Why do they supply the HK dealers with so much stock when the local market is so tiny? I would n't be surprised if they have enough OS50s to supply every HK flier 10 a year
