I wonder if someone can give me some advice please.
I am looking at buying a ready built Vario hughes 500 notar it has been built very well,The only thing I am in two minds about buying it is because alot of people have put me off saying that a notar is not very nice to fly,the tail cant cope and swings all about all the time as there is not enougth control there.May be someone who flys one can help me out.?

Rubbish!
Not the heli but what you have been told. Mine flew beautifully, even with the old butterfly system on it. The newer one is even better. Mine would fly sideways in a wind and did everything any other heli did. The only thing it struggled with was very fast left hand turns, which I shouldn't have been doing with it anyway. Certainly it never waggled or did anything else it shouldn't have. I had a HH gyro on it and modified the servo linkage to a pushrod, but, as I said, that was the old system. The new one has the rotating cone which is much better.

If you want it, buy it, its a nice heli to fly, and everyone wants to see it in the air.

I Just got my MD 900 Explorer and I am in the process of building it...I have seen the movie of this aircraft and it flies very well with quick responses. The NOTAR still function as an anti -torque unit so no matter what the response , the input should be identical to a helicopter with an anti torque propeller...
