Hi, I had the urge to give a try what many of you have been doing for awhile now. I strapped my camcorder to my Predator and took her up for flight. Man was it ever fun! I had to make sure the wife left for work before I mounted the camera to the heli

Let me know what you guys think. You will notice a lady on a 3rd story balcony taking pictures of the helicopter. Also, at one point, the collective was dumped and the heli rushed to the ground. What fun this can be!! Video is 18.3MB download. Please right click and "save as".

Take care,

Jay

Jay,
Fantastic!!! What did you use as a camera mount? And, how much did it affect W/B, if any?

Hey Wolfdad, thank for the compliment! The camera mount was simply taking some receiver wrap foam, made one pass around the camera. Then a layer of that black insulation foam for pipes on top of camera between the battery tray and camera for extra cushion. And about 12 rubberbands and one tie wrap. I couldn't believe how stable it came out. That heli is a Predator with OS70 with 690MM wood blades. Weight and balance, well it wasn't too bad. Just need to add a good portion of aft cyclic trim. It was great and boy does it descend alot faster with that added weight

Glad you all like the video. It was so much fun!! The camera I used was a Sony DCR-TRV-33. It uses a mini-DV cassette tape. The quality is so much better on the original. I lost alot of quality when I compressed the video to post on the net. I am using a web server to host these videos. You can send your video to http://www.augustoheli.com to host your video. Make sure you compress the video though.

Take care,

Jay

Hi Hector, my heli is a Predator with an OS70. Here is a pic of it. I will try to get one with the camera attached to it.

Take care,

Jay
