Watching this one. I'm still on sim flying until after xmas, but then I'll be looking for a real model to mangle. Micros are the only way for me, based upon the small field down the street.

Rcgroups comments weren't as kind as this thread, but I guess its all relative. $199 all-up, if it flies well is a great deal for a CP machine, esp. if more experienced guys can comment on mods and fixes to any innate design problems to keep it flying better, longer.

For anyone in the UK that wants one of these from hobbyjapan, my import charges were £25.43 which makes the whole package about £160 delivered. Not bad really when you consider that you will pay more than that for a hummingbird FP in model shops.

I was not here to take the delivery today so should have it tomorrow. I will let you all know what i think of it.

Andy.

You seem to be real frustrated....Do you know how to fly a cp heli....If a micro cp is your first cp heli then this may of not been a good choice for you..Helis are complicated machines that need to be set up perfect to fly well.....I spent several hours going through my heli honey bee and on the first attempt to hover was flawless....When you say you get what you pay for that is wrong.....The mark up on any heli are crazy..Hobbyjapan does not do this so you get a great deal even when you pay shipping....By now I hit a shipping crate at work flying around and it had a good 25 foot drop and smacked into the hard concrete floor and only snapped the fly bar...Which I cut both sides to equal lengths and put it back together and was flying with in a hour again...I paid high dollars for a brushless shogun and had nothing but troubles...Everytime i flew it something broke.....

I have no digital camera at the moment....If you decide to go with a trex plan on having a around 600-700$ in it..I have no idea on how the trex flies but know the honey bee flies well.....

yeah, thats what has me waiting..... T-rex 450X+ Align brushless + Align ESC + LiPo + Charger + 4 (9 gram) servos = about $400.00 / $450.00. I have the radio, gyro and other odds and ends....

or go with this heli and save some big $$$$$

I would like a review from someone who has flown a T-rex, Shogun or similar heli to see what the differences are.

What is the best way to string the antenna? I tried letting it hang down, but it wrapped around the tail rotor shaft. Has to be secured in some way to fly it inverted... Has anyone tried leaving it wrapped around the landing gear supports?

I had the same problems that most everyone else did with mine. The swash came apart right out of the box with very little effort. My fix was to insert small strips of paper between the parts while pushing them back together. I was a little afraid of getting CA in the bearing so tried this method instead. So far, so good after 5 flights. Also, I wasn't able to control the beast until I slid the flybar weights all the way in. Now it flies much better. With them in their original position, the response was so slow that I was always way behind the heli with corrections. It still isn't fast enough to suit me, but flyable. Hobbyjapan shipped the transmitter in mode 1 even tho I requested 2, but it only took about 30 minutes to move the wiring and spring to the correct positions. If you are not skilled at soldering, you probably will want to find someone who is.

So far, I am pleased. It is definitely inferior quality, but I didn't expect much for $200.00 and it has been fun to buzz around the back room when it is cold and windy outside. Mine is quite unstable and darts around very quickly. For this reason, I would not recommend it for a beginner. However, for someone who is able to hover already, it should be a good tool to hone their skills. So far, I feel it has improved my flying somewhat.

Later;

D.W.

ps Skymaster, what condition is yours in, and how much do you want for it?
