okay guys,
i have an arcamax pi pro gyro in my heli. i know its old but man does it hold the tail well. but the only problem is, when i hit full tail and let it go (even if i slowly let it go) it continues to piro a little and then shoots back the opposite way and then holds. i guess this is called the rubber band effect?? what do i have to do to get rid of it?? it should have the same functions as other gyros.

Hmmm, I think you need a new GY401. Your gyro might be just old and worn.

PM TurboStew. This dude was the owner/engineer of the Arcamax. If anyone knows how it works, this is the man.

Try this too: http://www.helihead.com/arcamax.htm

HI just like to say that the experiences that I have had with the rubber band effect is when the tail rotor linkage is not set up mechanicly correct. So it may be a good idea to put the gyro in normal mode and set up the linkage length so theres no drift hovering into wind . then try in HH and see if it makes a difference.

I would agree with Craneyum. Just been through exactly the same thing. Piro one way the bounce occurs and the other way it overshoots.

Let us know if you are still having problems after checking the t/r linkage set up. I have the parameters from the guy who wrote the instruction manual and they have worked well for me in the past.
