Ok I know that you guys are probably sick of me but i have another question. I got this bird flying but I have a prob with the gyro. It seems to wag a little and not hold in a climb out. The light on the 401 does not stay red for heading hold but the only time it acts like it is in heading hold in a hover only on climbout does it give. I have the gain cranked to 100% and the delay on about 25% and this seems to be ok There is no revo mix added and I set it up as I do all my nitro birds Do you hav eany idea why it will not show that is is in heading hold. Is it the way that you have to disconnect the red wire going to the gyro from the ics 50 esc? here is my setup.
hb cp
metal head
gws DD tail
himax brushless
Ph 10
ics50
401 gyro
8103 radio
3s lipo 11.1 v
hitec electon reciever
hs 55

This is the only problem that I have with the bird I have flew it a few times and it is Awesome(first micro) I sis a few loops and rolls today!! Flight time is amazing. I was worried about using this tail setup as I had read alot about tail motors burning out but my tail motor seems to run cool no problems yet Knock on Wood!!

Switch to 3030 tail prop and that 401 will hold that tail. i noticed the same thing with the 3020 that comes with the motor.

The cheapest place is here, only $3 for shipping eventhough they really could just put it in a stampped evelope for 37 cents But atleast it beats paying $6 for an 82 cent prop, your choice of colors:

What tail ESC are you using? I had great success with the GWS ICS50, Schulze 105HE and marginal with a Pixie 7. Set the delay to 0. You don't have to worry about burning out the tail ESC

If it comes down to a lack of athority, your bird is too heavy. To loose weight I'd suggest getting the 32guage leads from http://www.deeteeenterprises.com, lighten the 401, rx and maybe try some Apogee 830's(58g) batteries

I am using a ics 50 I got the light to stay on now. I had to reverse the channel 5 for the gain. I had never had to this before on any bird. learn something new everyday!! Ok THis bird is awesome but I do need to loose some weight. I am running a himax 4100 but I want more power Is there a better motor or do I need to shave alot of weight or BOTH. ha ha Oh and I am getting ready to try the hornet 2 blades, Do I need a diffrent pinion for a diffrent headspeed with these blades I am running a 10t now
ONE more question will a 240 gyro be a better choice for this bird

MTM 400F 2250kv w/15T pinion. This is a 180-200 watt motor and it weighs 43g. TP 3s 1320 gen II.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I had unbelievable power from the AXI 2208/20 w/22t pinion, hornet 2 blades (or check out the V blade H2 blades... http://www.ericlarsonrc.com/Helis and Equipment.htm) and Apogee 3 cell 830 pack.

OK guys went with the 830 pack, wow what a diffrence in power, Tail is still not to my liking but I will work it out. Flight times are not very long on this battery though. maybe 10 min. I am going to try the 3030 prop this week and a set of H2 blades as I have a h2 on the way and I will steal the stock blades for the Hummingbird ( weighted blades for the H2) . I think that I will have to get a smaller collar for the main mast though as my pitch range could use a little more. I shaved some off of the collar and the metal head, but still not enough. DOes anyone know if the new HB pro has this pitch thing worked out?

I don't know it looks like they are using the same head. It will be very disappoint if i have to take out my dremel again.

jameswill4,

you doing good if you are getting ATLEAST
1min / 100mah

So, an 800 mah pack to provide atleast 8 mins is not bad at all. So cats out there are getting much less, mostly do to weight and ineffecient blades, but the 1min / 100mah rule is a pretty cool ball park figure.
