Hi again Hirobonuts.

I want to make my great hirobo heli even better.

I've had it for months but due to other more pressing issues at the moment I have not been able to finish it. That time is fast approaching and I am getting really keen to get this thing up and running. I have some upgrades to put on and want to do it all before it flies. (what i can afford anyway)

So Far I have.

X-spec OS 91 PS, MP2
9252's with 9350 on collective, GY601/9151, and 9254 on throttle with TJ Pro,optical sensor, volt watch and venom temp monitor
Carbon ex dampers, EX stabilizer setup, EX tail rotor servo boom mount, 600 cc plus header, quick uk swash and third brg block for tail rotor drive on order. TT 680's
Got a FG canopy to be painted.
I would really like to know from x-spec fliers if there are other upgrades that they would recommend during the building process. I realise that I could just build it stock and have a great flying heli but I am a bit of a bling lover....esp if it improves an already great heli. (I know I have it bad)

What about.......

Mixture servo?
I am thinking of V Blades for both main and tail
Does the ali blade grips fix the loose brgs issue that was posted on RR?
Carbon boom? (hirobo nut on ebay sells them...anyone had one and are they ok?)
what about servo arms.....are the stock ones strong enough and where could better ones be found if they are not...and yes I want to chuck it around a lot

any other things I should ensure to do before finishing it up that you guys have found? any comments welcome. thanks

sorry dude.
didn't mean to offend you.
I know things are expensive in the Uk. I travel there a lot and don't buy anything there. In HK you should be able to get some awesome heli deals. Do you guys get good freight from the US?
The freya has cost a lot so far but still no where near the price of an ex wc although it's still no where near an ex wc! Never mind it's got a lot of nice stuff on it and thats cool. I think I just have a lot of pride owning nice stuff even if a lot of it sits on the shelf! LOL
I dunno if it's hirobo doing you guys over........I think it's more your country and vat....I may be wrong but it seems that way to me as there is no way I buy anything there except the rotor world mag. Probably only because when I convert it to NZ dollars I have to take your pounds and times it by three! Ouch. Sorry dude. Enjoy that HK trip to the max.
And bring home lots of heli stuff!!!!!
Cheers

1. Get the "9Z" as it is the ultimate bling bling "radio" to fly your "machine" also use a "601" along with your "9Z" and tell people!
2. Get a header tank... all helis look cool with one or two!
3. Get lots different colors of neon fuel tubing... all helis look cool with them.
4. Make sure you get lots of aluminum upgrade parts (any color)
5. The OS or YS are the engines of choice and make sure you get one with a "pump" (bragging rights).
6. Throw away the stock canopy and get a carbon one! and get a wicked most exspensive paint job you can get (awsome bragging rights).
7. Carbon.... Carbon upgrades are the key to a succesfull heli flyer (and bragging rights)
8. Dont use nicads get one of the new trendy high capacity battery types.
9. Make sure you use DIGITAL servos... regular servos do not work in helis! PERIOD!
10. Put lots of YS, OS and Coolpower stickers on your heli.
11. Get a regulator (sounds cool when you tell someone you use a "regulator" on your heli).
12. Use 2 PCM receivers so you will have a back up in case one craps out (tell people you use 2 PCM receivers as it will make you out to be an important flyer).
13. Use flourescent colored velcro to strap things down (How do heli flyers even fly without flourescent colored velcro?).
14. Wear a JR, Futaba or Coolpower shirt (so you can hang out with the "in" crowd at fun-flys or look important at your local RC field.)
15. Use a "Whip" antenna and let people know that (bragging rights)
16. Mention "F3C", "FAI" and "3D" alot and even make up your own combination of letters.
17. Spread your legs at least 24" apart while you fly.

funny
jb-turner. LOL
Funny post. I took it as such anyway.
Ummmm.......I'm not really into bragging rights, I just like lots of cool stuff on my heli. Makes me feel good even if it doesn't do anything.

I've seen some pretty darn good flyers with some very stock machines fly the pants off those things so I know that bling is not needed. But it still looks cool.
I see you don't fly an X-Spec so thanks a heap for your comments and I'll try to implement some of them although I may appear to make myself the field tosser on some of them. Any others with xspecs that have found some good things to do while building so you don't have to go back after and redo these things? I am really interested to hear what you guys like and don't like about this machine as I have only had raptor and venture and this is my first Hirobo. I have found the posts on the loose brgs in the blade grips and the post from the awesome augusto about the one way bearings and the solid bolt through the carbon ex dampers (all of which I have done and why I am asking now)
Thanks very much.
Cheers

ok I'm sick
Got that bling disease. Been to the heli doc but he says I am beyond help.
Yes dear......Like I told you before those shiny blue bits are made of duraltitanichyperalloy and are necessary for longitivity and safety. The plastic bits are only good for 10 gallons and the upgrade parts are so cheap compared to the genuine plastic bits......Bless her..........I am such a bad boy. As Punishment I feel I should be whipped by a scantily clad woman.
I'll stop blinging it and go fly.

Bling
Quick UK All metal Blue Swash plate. Had one on my X Spec, see gallery for pic.

Quick UK also makes a nice all metal flybar cage for the Freya.

I have the CF boom from Hirobonut on my Freya. Works great.

A nice polished head button really sets off the head. Other than that you don't need naything to make it fly better!

Good Flying!!

Don't get a CF Boom. If you take any pride in your chopper you should polish the boom and supports. I did this to mine it looks amazing and it does not cost anything except your time, and you get much more out of it because you did it yourself. simply

Sand off powder coat with 600 wet dry - I did mine wet
Continue to sand with finer and finer sand paper until all the scratches are gone I used 600, 800, 1000, 1200 - by this time it should be very shiny with little or no scratches.

Polish with your favorite metal polish

Clear coat with automotive clear coat - I have an air compressor so this is no big deal, however any local body shop can do it for you I think someone quoted me $20.

The end result not only looks good, but it is highly visible in the air.

PM me with any questions or I can email pics
