DFW

My Posts: All  Forum  Topic

I just wanted to see if there was any interest in doing this in the DFW area. It would be by the hour and with your machine, (mine if it goes well). Not just 3-D either whatever the student want's. Just checking let the beatings begin.

Thanks
Justin. M

Bro youre a short drive to College Station wait for CY to start up again for next year. It's worth it. I think the JK/TB is a rip. You get 10 people or so right you pay 300 bucks a pop, for three days. You would be lucky to get 2 flights a day for three days, 6 flights. NO way. You go to CY school you pay 1000 bucks and 7-8 flights a day and some night flying. you looken about 26-30 flights for the weekend. You get more flying time and youre flying his machines and his fuel, and he pays for lunch and dinner.

2 flights a day? BS, more like as many as you want... Most people can't handle more than 4-6 without a little brain fatigue... Not sure there are many people who don't think the school with Todd and Jason was worth the money. I'm sure CY is great too, but to fire off on these guys is stupid. And, you can have private lessons with them. Curtis does the exact same arrangement at funflys, so stop throwing stones there superstar...

Rogue, have you been to any of the aforementioned pilots classes??

Youre the one who just threw the stone. I think you need to READ the post closely. I did not Rip on JK or TB. I did not say one bad thing about them personally . I said
. I think the JK/TB is a rip.
THAT is my opinion , I have talked to several people they said they only got 2 flights in, and they where not aloud to land the heli. They are great flyers never did I say they suck did I . You are the one personally attacking. SO judge youself.
To answer you ??????
Rogue, have you been to any of the aforementioned pilots classes
Hell yea CY class in College station, Best thing I ever did.

THAT statement was clearly a dig at the school. Saying you'd "be lucky" to get 2 flights implies you may get only one. Clearly not true. But your opinion is always welcome.

Did anyone else notice the original poster (Justin) was interested in teaching? He didn't ask what other schools would be good to attend.

@ greenboot
my bad, mybe I should completely read something befor I post.

ANy who I think JK and TB are cool guys, I just think they should shrink there class count instead of 10-12 guys. Bring it down to 3-5 guys. Now youre talking, I think it would be worth it.

I think what Justin is saying is that he will be the instructor!

He'd like to put a class together in the DFW area and is looking for students.

TB/JK
Been there done that.
Those guy's worked me to the bone.
I couldn't have handled anymore flying each day as it was a cram session and those guy's make sure you get your moneys worth or they won't charge you!!!
Took the class 3 differant times and it was a blast.
They go from morning til nite.
The crash index went way down after their class so it payed for itself.
I have been to both Their classes and once to CY and they were both well worth it.
Todd and Jason will drive you as hard as you can take but you will burn out after too many flights so it gets spaced out over the day each day and you will get a lot of flying and learning in thats for sure.
You can land the heli if you want to but they get it up and down as fast as they can so you get more lesson time in.
Make sense to you???
Try it before you form an opinion.

JK&TB WOW!
Anybody who doesnt enjoy Jason and Todds school is either a dum ass or isnt paying attention. I learned a lot of cool stuff in 3 days. It was worth every penny. Just the setup part of the school is worth the money you pay. Like Lapointe says: Try it before youJudge

Hey I got a $100 gift cert towards the JK/TB school, and even if I did not, I would still attend. I have enjoyed flying at three or four Fun Fly's around JK, and can only imagine taking a class with him.

Personally I wish I could fly half as well as JK, TB or CY, but I don't think I could sit back and listen to some of the drivel on this board....having said that they are businessmen, and that probably woud not help. I think this got way off the original topic.....

If I had anopportunity to attend a class held by any of the top pilots out there, I would take it. You stand to learn a ton, regardless of the name.

FUNNY.

Todd Drove down to my field in San Diego for 2 full days and did not even take a lunch break and only had a class of 4 guys. The students could not handle anymore than 4 flights like Scoles said. Learing to fly is not all about buddy box. It is about learing setup which is one of the biggest set backs for new pilots. Second gettign familier with the machine. Last is buddy box. I know for a fact if Todd feels comfortable with your flying he will let you land the heli. I was doing a auto and it ran out of fuel and I told Todd "I got it" and he let me. I'm tired of posting on RR due to some of the posts people leave. Why do you rag on poeple. Todd and Jason are great pilots and do a damn good job teaching. I bet this guy Rouge 123 never even taken a class with Todd or Jason.

We just completed a two-day school with JK&TB this past weekend. Everyone had plenty of flying, in fact we quit a little early on sunday because we were all burned out (TB&JK were not). The set-up instruction is fantastic, essential. The flying with them is the most beneficial time and money you can spend in this hobby.

They were letting all of us land auto's (not that I go to school with these guys to learn how to land Rogue), they are safe and they make sure that everyone is getting what they want/need from the class, and that your heli makes it safely thru the WHOLE class (Todd made a couple auto "saves" that were spectactular!) If you crash your heli on the first flight, makes it kinda tough to get anything out of the class for the rest of the time.

I know everyone in our class came away very satisfied with what they learned and accompished in the two day class for the $300 it cost, plus spending two days with TB&JK is pretty special.

back to topic, who are you and where do you fly, and what you fly? I think I have meet everyone who flys arrond here, I ususally fly in grapevine and some close to the house outlaw fields, That is why I have a joker and logo 10, I'll take the freya 90 out to grapevine. But tell us more about your self and I think more intrest will be generated. I think I have been to most of the local heli/plane gatherings, funflys, contests. So we may have meet, and I have a friend that keeps on trying to get this heli thing down, but he can't pick it up, and I am tierd of helping repair his damage. tell us more

I took the class with Jon this last weekend and was very happy about the hole thing ..I flew both days untill my brain locked up . T.B. &J.K were willing to fly more .We even got a demo flight when we were to tired to go on . Todd found that my torque tube end had come unglued in my Fury .That probably saved me more money than the class cost . Charlie
