If you don't crash it's called 'diggindirt', but if you crash it's called the 'chicken dance'.

I done it with my eolo on short corn stubble and it slowed the blades, droped into the corn and stopped them but did no harm to the heli even at 2100 rpm. I just picked it up and flew off again .

try it on short grass or even on water, it can be done.

On water would be interesting!!!

If you are lucky enough not to do the 'chicken dance' you might be able to pull off a 'rooster tail'.

He says he has a raptor 50 and 90. Flybar and paddles are on top of side of the blades. I'm new at this but won't the flybar hit dirt before the blades or is it small enough that he would still be able to touch a blade tip?

Just be gentle or you'll do some serious damage. If you're good, you can write your name in the dirt.

I was there when the "Diggindirt" film was made. Actually it was filmed by a good friend of mine. And I can tell you that little scuff did nothing to the blades. It is the last part of the film that did something to the blades. But even that didn't destroy them. The heli yes, but the blades, no. Check my gallery for the bench photos of the heli after that film was made.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Fun over water?

Think twice. Water is NOT forgiving for objects moving at high velocity. Kind of like hitting a brick wall.

Top 5 Reasons to skuff your tips on the pavement.

5. Your blades needed to be polished at the tips.

4. You got sick of everyone yelling LOWER, LOWER.

3. You were hovering 6" up when a rotten fart blurred your vision.

2. Nobody else has the balls to do it.

1. Nobody else is stupid enough to do it.

number one reason i do it

since i've moved to the desert, i thought i'd have a go at putting the blades into the desert...

it's actually quite funny.

instead of grass flying everywhere, or scuffing the tarmac. you make a nice circle in the desert sand. (oh yeah... sand in your eyes is a possiblity)
once you mash negative and climb out, the send follows you. as well as fall out of the heli, creating a sand funnel durring your climb. looks like the heli is the eye or a tornado... lol

then you land, and swear 'cause you've got so much cleaning to do. and you don't do it again 'till the next time you fly

I still can't understand why anyone would want to touch their blade tips on the ground. Look Ma....No brains....
It's a spur of the moment type of thing. Check vid out.

I have done it before.
Once i got my Vigor i didn't really care about my Nexus 30 that much. So i decided to cut the grass with it. I actually went low enough to dig up some dirt, made a mess out of the tips on the fiberglass blades. But it ddin't scare me at all, i cut the grass with the Vigor all the time. Most people i know around here aren't the best at hovering, they can do flips and piro's like nothing else, but cant hover if their life depended on it. So i show off by tapping the head and cutting grass, i'm the only one in my club that will do it (stupid enough to do it i guess).
