Whats the quickest and best way to remove the clutch bell to replace the liner, Drop the engine or remove the upper frame assembly?

Both seem a bit daunting.

I started the heli in idle up, had to restrain the chicken from beating itself up while it choked itself to death with a melted liner thats fused.

It had to happen sooner or later, I alway check but I was fricking around with a remote cam mounting etc and got sidetracked while starting.

cheers

You may be able to change the liner by only removing the engine. If not - Remove the clutch bell bearing block, the start shaft bearing block, and the lower main shaft bearing block as a unit, then you won't change your gear mesh. After replacing the liner simply bolt all three back in the sideframes and mount the engine with the same shims and the alignment will be the same.

Just last week I had to change my clutch because it was broken. I removed the top frame just as the instruction book says. It worked out very well since my clutch bell was not parallel with the upper frame when I purchased my predator gasser from another guy. I was able to get everything lined up when it went back together and she flys fine now.
