In LA definitely visit MTA hobbies in Torrance. Also heard good thing about Zoom hobbies. I'm sure they can point you to the club fields.

There was a thread about shops in San Francisco. Search for San Jose or Palo Alto.

You would have to visit the Szabo's home field then...

Have not reread those but I remember there was some good info:

Clubs and hobby shops in the Bay Area
Marco,

If you are in the Bay Area. Check out the Bayside club in Fremont.
We are located about a 40 minute drive south of San Francisco.
Our club has about 100 heli flyers and on any Saturday or Sunday
there is usually about 20 to 25 heli pilots at the field. For more
info see our website at: http://www.baysidercclub.com. We have two
hobby shops about a 15 minute drive south of us that have heli
stuff, Century/Helicopter World and Sheldon's Hobbies. Both are
located in San Jose and only 5 minutes apart. Starwood Scale
Models is also located in Woodside and carry a number of Scale
stuff including Len Mount scale fuselages and Jakadofsky turbine
engines. If there is anything else I can help you with, please let
me know.

Las Vegas
Vegas now has a hobby shop that specializes in heli's. It's in north Vegas. They don't have a web site up yet, but I've talked to them and they are very helpful. You may want to visit it while your in Vegas.

Here's the link with the information.
