I was at the locol club meeting yesterday and they had a swap-n-shop, and a guy was selling a OS 91SX-H for cheap, he said it only had 4 flights, and wondering will this be plenty for a predator if so which gear ratio will it need, would this motor go in a SE or get a Preadator Max. I wont be doing this right away, just want to keep my eye out for something used. Anybody got anything for sale 90 size

Max
would be the best bet, 8:18 ratio. It WILL go into an SE, would need a pinion change but that is not much $$$$$

Hello

Im currently using that engine(with no mods) in a PMAX with 710 V2 blades. It has all the power I want. Get your self a PMAX and you should be very pleased.

For just a little bit more money, get the Carbon Max. It is a better kit IMPO. But that is me.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Love my P-Max with the standard frames - very rigid and surprisingly light. The lightest 90 in our club.

Which yoke are you speaking of. Tail yoke, Main yoke? Some eggs have more than one you know. Just kidding!

Yoke and blade grips
Some food for thought

Some may have to spend extra money on metal head upgrades on some heads in order to prevent certain undesired flight happenings(flutter, woof and poof or other such anomolies) but that is not the case with any of the current Predators.

The Predator with its' stock metal main rotor hub, GRP yoke and GRP mainblade grips with up to 720mm mainblades at high 3D rotor speeds has never suffered from any of these anomolies. So such items may well be more "bling" then anything else.

I understand that the main reason the metal blade grips are being made is for their industrial size Gasser that will be using 810mm mainblades.Of course there will be nothing wrong with using them on the standard gassers for the "kewl" factor but they are not necessary.

Indeed !
Phil brings up a good point, and is correct. I use 2000 with 720's in idle 2 on the original head. The engineers give 1450 as operational limit on 810's with current design. I WILL SAY, after watching it this weekend.......1450 gets ROWDY !!

the yoke has got nothing to do with the "bling-bling".... it is for strength and durability. a yoke won't blow up due to head speed. it's right in the middle. you could have 3000 on the head, and the yoke won't go anywhere. once you start flying that plastic one will wear though that is if you could get the blades to stay on... lol

i don't like plastic yokes. that's why i asked. why do they still not make one? what is taking them so long?

FWIW
They are working on a full metal yoke, blade grips etc.....it is intended for an industrial version of the P-gasser, but the commonality of parts would lend itself to MAX applications as well......

One bite at a time, Alistair......is how they are approaching it. I'll be certain to let you know any updates on this as they become available.
