Hey all, need some input.

After assembling the main blade holders to the yoke, I noticed that the spindle seems a bit long. I can "push" one blade holder in towards the yoke and the other blade holder would move away from the yoke AND the damper would unseat and push out as well. All parts are stock other than CX dampers. Roughly 3mm of play.

Is this normal? (Or is this why I hear of wobbles during spool up?)

Make sure you also put those little round spacers on the Spindle before you put the grips on. There about 1.5mm x 6mm ID x 8mm OD or something like that. They space the grips out a little from the yoke.

i'd check for the spacers too, sounds like you might have mislocated them.

I ran into the same problem last week. The CX dampers that were shipped to me were 6.7mm thick, and they should be 7.5mm thick. I emailed CX and there supposed to send me the correct dampers. Guess they were mis packaged or a bad run. The lateral play is even more if you have an SD-G head using 2 stock and 2 CX dampers.

mrNoodles If the thrust bearings weren't fully seated it would be tighter, not lose.

Nopes..
Fully seated wasnt perhaps the correct term, but I thought if the outer part of the thrustbearings gets stuck between the spindleshaft edge and the washer. Then there will be play...

mrNoodles ok i see where you were coming from. Your thinking of up and down play in the grips, were talking about lateral play inline with the spindle. If you hold the head and pull outward on one grip, then go over to the other side and pull, that's the play were talking about with the CX dampers.

There will be lateral play inline with the spindle if a thrustbearing sits like I just described.

Nopes... A thrust bearing is at it's thinest when fully seated, if it happens not to be fully seated it will be thickier, causeing less lateral play.

I made a drawing..
MrDHEJ
This is how I meant

I also took a closer look at the blade grips and it looks like its not possible for the bearing to get stuck there.

Who needs CAD?!

Ok, you meant if the outer thrust washer got hung up on the spindle... Hard to do, but i supose possible. Though it would cause about 6mm of lateral play.

Wait, that's not even possible on the stock evo grips. The bearings in the blade grips go radial-thrust-radial, so theres no way to get the thrust bearing hung up on the end.

You´re right!
Im using the SZ-IV grips on my Sceadu and it has the bearings in the same order as the Freya/XSpec for example.

Sorry for any extra confusion this might added

Just got on board... Thanks for all the input.
"Checked that, done that". Spacers (including the ones in between the thrust and outer radial), radials and thrusts installed correctly.

So it's NOT supposed to have that much play.

MRDHEJ, I'll check the thickness, that sounds like it may be my problem...

Just send an email to CustomerService @ CarbonXtreme.com

For shets N' giggles I tried the dampers with the plastic head yesterday, DON'T use them. It got about 1/2 way thru spool up then almost took my heli out. Luckly the severe shaking didn't bend anything. If it wasn't for the 60 sized MA tuff struts i'm sure the baldes would have hit the dirt.

This is the reply I got from Carbon Extreme:

"Your understanding is incorrect.
The measurement you mentioned is for the rubber stock ones.
Those measurements don't apply to the CX dampeners. The CX dampeners
should be a bit shy of 7 mm. If you have any problems when installed let
us know.

Best regards,

Customer Service
CarbonXtreme."

In your last post you said you tried the dampers on the plastic head. My stock Evo 50 head is plastic. Are we talking about the same heli?

It makes total sense that the dampers are too "skinny".

Any idea's? Any body? (Buller? Buller? )

rcjunky,

You can either add shims or have them replaced.
I talked to the customer service person. You can just send them back and they will replace them. They should be 7mm not 7.5 mm.
Send an e-mail to CustomerService @ CarbonXtreme.com fonr instructions and they'll take care of it.

Augusto.

rcjunky yes Hirobo Sceadu EVO50 plastic head

Augusto They told me they were going to ship me another set, but, are they just going to send the same size?

Aparently it does on mine, cause...

It got about 1/2 way thru spool up then almost took my heli out. Luckly the severe shaking didn't bend anything.

You really should make these so they are a direct replacement, or at least include the spacers. There shouldn't be that much of a gap.
