Hi, Anyone knows where I can get a K&N air filter for the Predator gasser? Also has anyone anodized your alum. frames? I was thinking of having the frames and tail boom supports done like Candy apple red or like light purple or such. For the money we paid for these machines, might as well make them look classy.

Sorry SLZ, they are not nearly the same. What you need to do, is order a Vario assembly, so you can look at it, then send it back, if you can't afford it. I ordered the Dave's unit, and sent it back. The Dave's filter and base assembly is four inches in diameter. I called them, and they said this is the smallest assembly they have. The Vario filter assembly is two inches in diameter, and less than one quarter of the weight. I'm also not interested in saving money. My primary interest in having the right stuff.

Note to slz. The K&N filters that I have are from Airstar International, and cost $49.99, but thanks for the hot tip though. You haven't been bashed at all. The velocity stack base of the Dave's motors filter assembly weighs a ton. It is a solid 2" or 3" inget of aluminum. Yes, the K&N filter is the same. Brian, your link is dead, brother.

Are any of those chrome air filter/velocity stacks very light?

The only way I would replace my stock plastic filter with choke is if there's minimal weight difference. Sure do like the bling look but I ain't going to weigh down my ship for eye candy.

So what are the weights of these filters? Anyone have true measurements? Also not having done so myself, does anyone know what the stock G231 plastic filter boxes weigh?

thanks,

Raymond

thanks Al, I'll be awaiting your findings. It's easy to look at all the filters available, yea they all look cool and I'm sure most work very well.

The big question is weight, shame they don't post weights on each filter. I would want to know not just the filter weight but the velocity stack, choke mechanism, etc. the whole unit ready to bolt on.

The LAST thing I want to do is offset the 4oz savings my carbon frames gave me. But you gotta love the looks of those chrome filters, they have my attention!

I was speaking with Chris Bergen at Fall Fest, his Observer ship has the big velocity stack on it with no filter. We talked about it and for what he does it isn't an issue (filtration that is).

I usually take off and land on a pad but I do shoot autos and don't always make it back to the pad so I worry about non filtered systems with just the big velocity stack. You can here those things sucking the air when they are running too!
