Today I ordered 36 x ¼ gallon Aero Shell turbine oil 500
No problem but they ask 26,- Usd for ¼ gallon???
A year ago I paid around 14,- Usd for a ¼ gallon.

Am I being screwed by Shell or was the price I paid a year ago wrong??
Or is the turbine oil become very expensive in a year??

Thanks,
Ben

Do you guys think you realy "need" turbine oil ?
IMHO you are wasting a lot of $$$. Try some good (air cooled) two stroke oil you will find that it will do the job.

The only advantage of the turbine oils is the resistance to coking at high temperatures. the only time there are high temperatures in the bearing areas is after shut down. If a "cool" down (on the starter) is used then that problem goes away OBTW the TC3W oil is for water cooled engines you would be better served to use "Air cooled" oil.

Just tell them that you converted to a circulating system and no longer mix your fuel

Just wondering, does JetA that you get from the airport has oil in it already? If yes, what if you fill up the model with JetA and avoid messing with these oil stuff.

Gregory,
I understand your explanation but I don’t like it.
But it’s clear that my oil supplier isn’t the problem.

Tanks for all the input and I will try TCW3 oil when the Shell 500 oil runs out.

Cheers,
Ben
