Sounds like an extreme way of testing a 601,don`t think they cover that particular setup in the manual.

Hey Reesy,

You know my trusty old SE that i've had for 3 years & never binned it.

Well I managed to dig 3 furrows with it last week, 2 with the skids & 1 in the middle with the perry pump, would've got a perfect score at a ploughing match

Needless to say it bounced back up, it was then that the rear u/c strut fell off & when it came back down, it tipped over, broke the blades, bent flybar & stripped the spur gear & cracked the canopy.

BUGGER....

Was setting up my 601 the other week by doing backwards drag races (don't ask !!!).
After being used to 5 or 6 flights with a Csm 540 on 2400ah lipo's, it never crossed my mind that the battery would go flat on flight 4.......

Just finished repairing it now

That has been the main thing I have noticed using the 601 compared to the 560...

The battery consumption has almost doubled

Its put it to good use but you do need to keep a close eye if you are used to the CSM range...

EDIT: Just realised why the top flyers run 4000mah duralite setups now

Hi Paul -

We be just peachy here, hoping for some sunny weather, to support our flying habit.

Was 'out and about' the other week, happened upon a meeting of weirdos (not hard to do here). Anyway, they had these 2-wheeled robot critters rolling around balancing on their side-by-side wheels.

Seems the robot guys have found a use for our 601's. Solid as anything, the robots started, stopped and turned without any visible leaning or unnecessary movement.

I was agape!

Hi TOSH -

You will have to be the judge. The little fellers were about 3 feet tall, had a video camera near the top so they followed anything red(spectators dressed in red found they had a new friend, who followed them). The handlers had a stick with a red painted flag on it. The flag was put in front of the robot so it wouldn't wander off with red-coated strangers. (no pun intended)

One of them had a baseball cap on top, might do in an emergency.

Add a little here - take off a little there, who knows what can happen???

Ah Ron
So you have a new friend following you round eh? Tosh is the first flier I've come across who flies mode1 since then a whole bunch of left 'ookers have emerged from the woodwork, several of this years masters in 3DM were mode 1
Ron is the only person I've heard of who's succesfully made the shift to mode2

So...
These robot guys .. was anyone on the sticks?

Hi - - - - Bubbles -

Looking back on the whole 'mode swapping' episode, my opinion is that neither mode has an advantage as far as control of the aircraft goes. To me, mode swapping meant going back to 'square one' and re-learning the basics. Of coarse, it goes much faster the second time around.

The balancing robots had no radio control. They seemed to be programmed to maintain a certain distance from the color red. As they approached a red wearing person, the person would back-up. The little robot would then approach again - you get the idea. It was very funny to watch. The impression was that the robots wanted to be friends, good friends, right now.
