From what I've read that is the case. There will be no upgrade path from
G2 to G3 but there will be a price reduction for existing G2 owners, $50
being the figure that I have heard. There is also a new version of Aerofly Pro, Aerofly Pro Deluxe, which should be out in a couple of weeks. From what I've read about this one is that they are working on an upgrade route for existing Aerofly Pro owners, but I don't know how it will be implemented.

AFP deluxe is where the action will be at shortly. G3 looks terrible in comparison to XTR. what happened to photo scenes?

also afp has an upgrade path to deluxe, SUPERB.

cheers

the flight charcteristics for Real flight suck with the helicopters, the plans fly good but the heli's suck. I wouldnt buy a realflight for 50 for heli's.
I love the ultimate bipe, but use CSM for heli's,the graphiics arent as good but the flight is better.

i have to agree with "csm" sim for heli's. i had about 4-5 hours on csm sim, went to the field and a friend gave me the sticks of his heli, hovered no problem, and had control, now 2 years and 6 helis later

Great planes screw up
They screwed up on this one. I am slightly peeved that G2 owners that have supported greatplanes must now buy another controller to use rendering their first controller useless. (who will want it except those looking for a bargain now that new sims are out) $50 reduction? So what! I sold my G2 while it was worth something and thanks to great planes for helping me to fly heli's but I now have reflex and don't regret it.
No upgrade path. Na .....sorry.....you can have the smaller market you are about to head into. If you are into Heli's ....get reflex. it's awesome. I wouldn't mind looking at AFP as well.

Saw the writing on the walls about 6 months ago and ditched my G2 for about $130 and bought the XTR. No regrets.

Buddykitchen,

G2's pretty flakey with autos too. The blades almost seem to carry no energy. I can auto for real fine, but on G2 it's a bit hit or miss.

I was thinking of upgrading to G3.... the key word being upgrade! As I've got the controller. But seeing as you can't upgrade and there's no helis for now, I'll give it a miss

Great planes will not screw themselves by not helping those of us with G2. I totally agree it $UCKS, but obviously Heli flyers arent that crucial or else it would have been in the first edition of G3...

How about another Idea??? They are offering us a 50 buck break right? Those of us that OWN G2 should drop them emails and let them know directly it doesnt seem fair. After all, they did sell us all those stupid overpriced add-ons...

Jagboy69,

Good idea on the email. I'll blast em when I get home and get the email address

And of course, it doesn't just effect us heli pilots, but anyone with the previous G2 version / controller should be pretty pissed.

don't agree
maybe not just heli pilots but they have deliberately ensured you can't fly realflight G3 with your G2 controller. It's only software dude. Why no upgrade path.........to make more money out of YOU!!!!
