I am wondering what size battery you are all using in your 50 size ships. I am currently running a 2100 NIMH A size I believe. it is the step bigger than AA. I am in need of more than one flight per charge. I thought about sub C but worried about weight. I dont have the money for Lithium right now or my problem would have been solved already. Also state how many flights per charge. and what kind of servos you are using. I have JR DS811 in mine right now.
Let me know

I just put in a 2400 Mah NiCad Sub C pack from cheapbatterypacks.com Works great, fits well. And, i didnt notice the extra weight at all - running my tail servo up front in the stock location even SHould be able to get 4 flights out of it, running all 8311 digitals and a 9253. I would receommend it!

1 flight per charge?????

That does not sound right. I have a Raptor 50 with all digital servos and a 1700mah nicad pack and I get 4 flights per charge and can push 5. You may have an issue with your battery pack if I am reading your post correctly. How old is the pack and what are you using to charge it?

I have the radicalrc 2400 mah battery pack. I think that is about the right amount of juice though you could go bigger. It is tough to go bigger and not get into the nimh batteries. Mine is my Voyager 50 Long Ranger.

401/9254
DS8231 on collective
DS811's on cyclic
9253/throttle jockey pro on throttle

I charge after 5 flights,(could proably go more, but why chance it?)

I get about 4-5 flights on my EVO with 9202's on cyclics and JR 4711 on collective. 401 9253 combo and throttle jockey. I'm using the 1000 Mah NiCd that comes with the 9C radio.

The pack is less than a year old and I charge it with a Hobbico MKII field charger at .08 amps. I don't want to push it to far with more than one flight. While flying the voltwatch is serging into the red ara. After flgith is over it is about the second green light. I dont fly again unless I can rotate both sticks simultaniously without reading in the read on the voltwatch. I thank you guys for all the post. I did notice some of you use lower mah packs than other but only a few stated cell size. Are all of you using sub C size or are some of them smaller packs.

NIMH's won't handle the high discharge currents that you are putting on that battery. Change to a 1700mah or 2400 mah nicad and see the difference.

There have been plenty of posts about the discharge rates and high internal resistance of these small NIMH batteries. I wouldn't use them, especially if you are running PCM with battery failsafe set to trigger at 3.6 volts this is bad news.

The voltwatch is not accurate use it as a guide line I don't stop untill it stays in the RED and when I land and use a voltmeter to check the batt I am good, Usally 3-4 flights on a 30 with 3x9252's a GY401/9253 could go more but have three batts and just change them out. ( mount them with sticky velcro works great and holds strong ) 1-2300Nimh, 1-2100Nimh and 1-1000Nicad

I'm running Duralite 4000mAh and the closest I've got to draining on a 90 bird was 6 flights in a row, and I was exhausted.

I was keeping a log of voltages to see how many flights I could get:

http://www.cjwoods.com/Duralite.htm

but have stopped keeping a log as they just keep on going longer than I can fly
