Hi,

Just looking at what bits to get for a Zap 400, and decided not to go for the Protech electronics pack as I want a hh gyro. Biggest problem I seem to be having is where to source batteries in the UK.

Most of the Lipo's I've seen don't have a discharge rate that's suitable - any ideas ? - I like the sound of the TP1320's, but can't find them over hear.

My other question was relevant to the Protech ESC - is it a Lipo aware one (ie. will cut before damaging battery). Long term I'll go BL, but for now want to keep the costs down, and also feel the benefit of the BL later. If the ESC's nothing special, then I have some others knocking around that should do the job (ie. Jeti 350), so I'll only need to buy one then when I go BL

Other intended setup for day 1 was:
RX JR R700
gyro: still debating, but have a CSM HL200, so may try that first as it won't cost me (although seen lots of problems reported)
Servos 4xHS55 (I've read the posts, but they'll do me for now)

Following initial flights etc., I'll go for lighter paddles, lighter paddle adapters, bend the flybar linkage to get more range. Once I've played around like that for a while, then I'll go BL
Cheers,

Darren

Darren,

Check out the FlightPower Lipos at http://www.flightpower.co.uk/products.php?id=19, the 3s1p pack looks suited to the Zoom400 and there's a CF battery tray too

Darren,

Try some of these for starters:

http://www.westlondonmodels.com/
http://www.electricflight.co.uk/
http://www.electricrotors.co.uk/
http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/

First two are general electric flight shops with West London Models being the UK stockist of Thunder Power batteries. Their website isn't the best you'll find but the shop and advice are worth the effort. The shop is just off the A4 next to Heathrow but give them a ring if you're thinking of visiting as stuff does go out of stock.

No experience of the others but they seem to stock all the bits and pieces that get mentioned a lot on this forum.

Best of luck,

BJ

Cheers guys.

Any ideas on the Protech ESC - is it a Lipo aware one with a higher cut off voltage ? Any details on this ESC ?
