Anyone ever install a Raptor Tail on a Shuttle? Have one sitting here and looks like it is a better setup.

Given that I have a Shuttle that just self-destructed, I'd love an answer to this question, too!

If you're putting on a whole tail assembly with the case and all, that would be difficult. The booms are different diameters, as I remember. And I doubt that the spacing would be right for the belt dimensions. I don't recall if the tail pulleys have the same number of teeth.

If you're just retrofitting the tail rotor hub, grips and slider, then that might not be too hard.

The real question is.... Why are you trying to resurrect a shuttle???

Where you been? Long time no hear or see! I now have a Lama. Is that considered a shuttle? I was only refering to the hub and grips and slider, as the Lama has a wire drive. I think the raptor ones are much better.

Ah ha, yes that would explain why you'd want to do that. Actually, I have a 3 bladed tail rotor assembly with slider (all aluminum) that's made for the Lama/Shuttle that you might want. It would look great on the Lama.

How about $50 with the blades - or make me an offer? I was going to put it on my Hind-D, but probably won't.

Yes, long time no hear, no see. I've been so busy moving that I haven't had much time for real flying (plenty of sim time tho), and my internet service hookup has been a mess, so no email for about 6 weeks. But, I'm back, and ready! Let's pick a weekend to go flying!

Cool! Sounds good - paypal is fine. We should definitely try the buddy box thing. I might be able to go flying this weekend - how about you? Maybe Sunday afternoon?

Here's how to do it:
The key part needed is an old, crunched-up Raptor boom. Why? Because it fits perfectly outside the Shuttle boom I know because my current Raptor 50v2 boom is made up of two crunched-up Raptor booms, cut to the proper lengths, and held together with a 6" length of Shuttle boom inside of it. Yes, the belt runs perfectly well inside of it.

So, armed with this piece ok knowledge, go to town, and make it pretty. I'd cut the booms at the halfway mark (give or take), for that cool black and white effect, like the TT 600 mm blades. The part that mates to the heli is from Hirobo, the tail and its part of the boom are from TT.

Oh, yeah, use 5 minute epoxy after setting the tail rotor perpendicular to the main mast! Hahaha.

Gigi

My heli spending has gone way down since I got a Honda 919 :-)
