When I am on a all day photo shoot with my chopper, I fast charge my Nicd's for short (10 min) intervals in between shots. Is this "hurting the batts. ? I do frequently cycle them whenever I do this in the evening after the shoots.

Since you are using NiCads you need to be sure to cycle regularly... You stated that you do so there is no pain in using this method... The only damage that can come from this is the amperage that you are fast charging. If you are charging at high current rates then keep a close eye on temps. If you are just topping off at around an amp or so it has been my experience that no damage is done..

Personally I wouldn't bother with a 10 min fast charge to partially replenish the batteries, I would rather do 2 flights then do a full fast charge till the batteries peak. Then at least you know that they ARE full. It used to be recommended to do a trickle charge ever 5 quick charges. When I do a lot of flying during the week I do a discharge/charge overnight and fast charger during the day, and a propper cycle once a month and keep an eye on how much goes in just to keep an eye on condition.
