I've got about a 100 flights on my caliber 30. Just recently it started making a clicking noise from the tail rotor. Took it apart cleaned and greased it. Could'nt find anything wrong with it. Put it back together, same problem click click click click. Any ideas?

Clicking noise
Please check the drive pullys, you may need to replace them.

The hole in the center of the tail rotor drive pulley has a "double-D" shape. It matches the shape of the TR shaft -- a cylinder with flats ground opposite each other. The hold in the pulley tends to want to become round, and eventually the tail rotor shaft can turn inside the pulley a bit, instead of being fixed in place.

Either replace the pulley back there, or if the hole hasn't been worn out too badly in the pulley, you can clean things out real well, then carefully use JB Weld to glue the pulley permanently in place on the shaft. Mix carefully, let it cure for at least 24 hours.

I had the same issue exactly. It was the drive gears in the T/R housing. Inexpensive fix...some new gears.

Epoxy gets the job done. The same thing happens to the tail gear attached to the drive shaft. I glued both--no more clicking.

Did the trick
No more clicking from the tail. Amazing what a little J B Weld will do.
Thanks for all your help.
