I was thinking about doing this with my Twist setup a while back but I thought the KV rating of the motor was too high. A fully charged 4S pack is 16.8volts X 3700 Revs per volt = 62,160 rpm. I think the Twist is rated at max rpm of 50,000. You could cut your ESC down to 80% max which should give you about 50,000 rpm. This would give you about 3000 extra rpm on the motor.

I pulled apart my 3s2p Tanic Packs and went to convert them to 4s2p but decided to leave them well alone, it looked pretty dangerous to be changing them with charge in them.

head speed would be close to 3000rpm...a big no no. That is of course you run the 14t pinion. your lipo would be destroyed and you would be beyond 40 amp limit of the jazz

If the Throttle curve was set to about 80% then you would get a HS of around 2500. Its just a matter of if you are happy to run your ESC at that lower setting. I like to run mine at about 95%.

none the less you'll lose efficiency with the motor as well the esc and more then likely you'll have heat issues(motor & esc)

Hi Lee
Yep
4S2P on that motor wouldn't work too good
Setting the controller to 80% is just putting it back to 3S2P

Mind you I tried 6S1P today

Whooooosh

ya, I tried 6s1p yesterday as well and all I can say is nice. the headspeed wasn't so high that it was scary like some reported. what I did notice was a great improvement in stability and response

Ay lad pretty much the same here
went from 5S1P to 6S1P
thought it might be the slight extra weight
THINK it's the HS stays more consistent
running controller on 90% against the 100% on 5S

flew much more like a big un

I noticed on mine yesterday that the red light on the ESC didn't turn off until I hit 80%. I was thinking that that means from 80 to 100 has no change in rpm. At what setting does your red light turn off?

sparkhead. when your esc turns red that means your at 100% throttle. On my jazz I hit 100% throttle once my thottle curve is at 77 across the board. so if I want to fly at say 95% gov. then I need to set my throttle curve to 73 across the board. and 62 for a 80% gov and so fourth.
To find when your esc is at 100% gov. you need to slowly increase the thorttle curve while on the ground. once you get the red light then you have found 100% for you particular setup. everyone will have a different result depending on they're exact setup.
