Hi all,
I am trying to decide which motor/pinion combo to use on a Trex. I am a fairly new pilot and will be upgrading from my FP Piccolo. Which one should I get?

B20 18L 3086kv 0.40 Idle Current 0.092 Resistance
B20 15L 3704kv 0.70 Idle Current 0.064 Resistance

I will be using the Hacker: Master 8-B-Flight ESC w/BEC.

Thanks in advance

Hey T3K.....what exit? (inside joke)

I'm actually trying a Chili Pepper 3100, It sounds like it will do the trick nicely. I'll post results as soon as I get her airborne. I don't want to mount my electronics until my scale Astar fuse arrives (hopefully today).
This way I can maximize the available space. You can check out the motor at http://www.rumrunner.com
I'll keep you posted on my progress!!
Regards,
Anthony

Hey T3K...

The popular consensus is to go with the B20 15L (11 tooth pinion)...at 3700 kv this should give you some good performance..this is what I might go with if my Mega doesn't work out, or maybe I'll just spring for the 3750 Lehner. The only problem is that you'll have to get a pinion that will fit the shaft on the Hacker, as the ones that come with the kit are 3.2mm. I'm not sure if they come in another size b/c I didnt receive my kit yet (hopefully today)

Goto this link..

http://www.b-p-p.com/BrushlessMotors.htm

The model you want is the 1020/17 (3529KV)...may be a bit expensive, but these are the best motors money can buy (once again from what I read in other forums). Never actually had one but considering dishing out the money for it based on its performance reputation. It has the 1/8" shaft so you'll be able to use the pinions that come with the kit.

Very cool. I've heard about those motors, I have a few boats from Fine Design and he uses them on the real high-end stuff. I think one of my friends boats has one.

I think I am going to order the align 2800kv motor to try on the new Trex along with the align ESC. Both together are under a hundred bucks and I can use the 13T Pinion that comes in the kit!

Actually the 450x kit comes with 4 pinions and one of them is an 11 tooth 2.3mm centerbore that will fit the Hacker perfectly. The other three are all 3.17 mm centerbore pinions.

Razor RZ 24-3650, 10t and CC Phoenix 25 with a 5v SBEC PolyQuest 1800mah 12-16C 3s Lipolys

Twister 300-20, 11t, CC Phoenix 10, 5v SBEC with Tanic 1050mah 5s Lipolys

My two favorites right now, but not much flying time on either.

Boyd-Hoverup, any further info on the Razor? I'm interested in this motor, I don't want to use more than 3 cells, if possible. Can you compare the razor to the Chili Pepper 3600 ?
