Dear Sirs:

Today I flew my Helicopter Logo 10 and it shut off in flight and crashed.
I think could not program the controller well for my heli.

I did not understand very well all the instructions manual in the site therefore I´m asking you to help me program the future 18.46K ESC for my Heli configuration:

I have a LOGO 10 3D: TP 6000 mAh 5S3P Lipo, Hacker C50 15L, 13Teeth, GY401, Digital Servos S9650, Tx 9CH-PCM

What I want is to avoid the motor to get too hot because I think it was the reason the helicopter shuted off in flight. Need a fast start in order to save time in case of a glitch.

Low advance Timing: 2-10 degrees. 8khz switching frequency. Cut off voltage to protect the 5s3p Lipo.
Current limiting: standard. Brake disabled. Autocalibrating throttle, Soft cut off

Do you recommend to me to use a separate Battery for the Rx or the UBEC (KOOLFLIGHT) ?

Thank you in advance for your kind help.

Tobias

Hello Tobias,

It sounds like the pinion gear that you've selected for your cell count and motor choice is too high. I would recommend a 11 tooth pinion with 5S lithium (13T is the good choice for 4S). Since your motor is running hot, that is a symptom of too much current (too much of a load). Also, your batteries won't last as long since you're discharging them at a higher rate with a pinion that is too big. Additionally, make sure that there is no friction in the drivetrain (gear mesh too tight, mainshaft bent, bearings bad etc)

The benefit to using a UBEC is reduction in weight, which the helicopter will enjoy (lower weight = more flight time, and less current and heat). I have had a UBEC on my Logo 20 and it is absolutely trouble free. Unless you're using a huge receiver battery that is very heavy, I doubt that would make a difference
