A couple of days after receiving the Razor RZ-24-3650 a new Himax 2025 4200 arrived at my door.
So I have been doing some comparing of the two.
My testing has been limited due to lack of free time.
So far I have tried both motors with a 8t pinions. I feel that the Himax performed better with the 8t.
My next step is to try the Razor with a 9t and I suspect that it will perform a lot better as far as head speed.
I am kind of disappointed due to Razors claims that there motor is more efficient and requires less kV to achieve same speed under load.
The Razor did seam to have a more consistent rpm.
I am not going to try different pinions on the Himax since 8t seams the way to go as far as head speed, performance, and heat.
With the CC 25 in governor mode the Razor performed much better. The Himax had a lot of tail wag. Virtually none with the Razor which maybe due to more consistent kV.
Diameter- Razor 24mm vs. 20 Himax.
Weight- Razor 52g vs. 65.3g Himax (71.5g w/ heatsink).
Length- Razor 34mm vs. 45mm Himax
Shaft- Razor 2.3mm vs. 2.0 Himax
Not sure where to find a heatsink for the Razor due to it diameter. It sits close to the frame so you might not even be able to make one fit.
The Razor is lighter. So there is a weight savings for hopefully longer flight times and it might help with tail heavy setups. Motors were weighed with a RCBS digital scale. Both were close to published specs.
Will work with pitch curves for the Himax to get rid of tail wag.
As I go up in head speed with the Razor I may have to do the same.
Down the road I would like to try the Razor with a 4 cell 14.8v setup.
I will be able to due some more testing in the middle of the week so I will update this weekend.
