I am about to go out and buy the os 37 to replace my dead tt39 is there anything i should be aware of ?
I have been watching posts about concerns over the plastic throttle arm, how does it hold up?
Are the mixture settings set up well at manufacture or is there a setting I should use to start from?
What kind of time do they take before running in is done ?

Anything else I need to know would be greatly appreciated

Andy

Same boat
Yeah, I am in the same boat. I have a TT39 that never wants to run right. If I fiddle with both needles all day, I can get it run awesome with lots of power, but I spend more time fiddling with it than flying, and I lose my turn at the field, as we alternate with other heli guys.

So my TT39 is preventing me from flying.

The new OS 37 looks like the ticket to me, in spite of any of the above complaints.

I think through reputation OS will always win even it isn't the most powerfull, but I do have to say that OS does have by far the best reputation overall for reliabilty and easy setup (from what I read it does anyway).

If we look at the published engine specs then the TT39 i think is still in the lead on power, but what is power when some ppl have found it to be a pain in tuning. I found the engine to work well and only really had problems when trying to use formula irvine contest 10 fuel ( i just could not get it to well with that stuff it either overheated or would just ran poorly) which is what lead to the engine dying

There is also another engine that seems to be ignored and never mentioned which is the West Eurotech, it claims to have 1.8hp from the 36 and 2.8hp from the 50 so in the power war it wins hands down by 50% easilly over everything else. As for the reliability of I have no idea only what can be found on the web site.

Once you get the West set right, it is as smooth as silk and an awesome engine, in normal mode i run about 35% on my mid stick of my 5 point throttle and it runs at around 1700, loads of power, but fidly to get set up, and it does has a preference for the Prosynth fuel.
I have a OS37 in the cupboard, if i get fed up with the west that will go in but for now it STAYS!!!!

thanks for the replys about the os ..
i have a heli too with a tt 39 and another with the irvine 39.
the irvine runs as smoth as my 3rd heli which has an os 32 but the irvine also packs a huge punch for power. beats the tt 39 in all respects.
i find also you need to treat the tt39 with more respect then os or irvine.
i just wish i could compare power of my irvine to the new os 37 as the irvine 39 runs as sweet as a nut..

I got my OS37 and thought I would share my feelings about it with all.

THIS ENGINE ROCKS!!!!!!

I think the TT39 still has a slight power advantage, but the OS runs smoother, tunes easier even sounds better on the same muffler and generally it gives a confident feeling when flying with it.

Only 1 gallon of fuel been through it so far so i dare say there is a little more power to come, the engine gave me a feeling of complete confidence from the first engine start, with how smooth it runs from idle to full power everything just sings with excellence.

Still running 550's here Until the inevitable crash happens, then I will do the conversion to 50 and use 600 blades but that will also include the 50 engine that I already have.

Seems as though this thread has turned into a bit of a field report on the OS37SZH engine I'll put my 2 bobs worth in.
The 37 I have in My R30V2 does have more power than the TT39 I have.
When I tune the engine for top end performance it runs ok in normal mode but when switching to stunt mode the engine goes lean in the midrange and eventualy overspeeds getting the wah wah's.
When I faten up the low/mid range mixture this helps to reduce the problem but the idle suffers.
When i fatten up the main mixture this also helpes the midrange but the top end suffers.
The OS37 I think has room for improvement.
