Why do u guys worry about the original plastic throttle arm that comes with the engine... I cut the upper arm and am using the throttle link on the lower part of the arm.... it works fine... the engine is so responsive compared to the old OS32 that I will need to put a faster Servo.....can u beleive it..... I love the Rappy, OS 37 Combo..... great power and very very smooth engine .... So far so good... lets keep our fingers crossed..... Cheers

I agree with your thoughts about the engine. My only concern with the arm is that the only "locking" between the plastic arm and the shaft is the small star washer. Probably will work fine, but I have had good luck with the metal arm that clamps all the way around the shaft that I just feel somewhat safer with it. Flying right now with the plastic arm just as you describe.

SLK sent me some excellent pics of his setup and it looks solid to me. In my opinion, I think it looks like a cleaner setup than any of the extentions I have seen. I will order new engine on thursday. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I sent an email to Waka. What is your email response time? How is your engine doing? Does he have a website?

Thanks

Hiroshi is the man. There is no need to doubt him. I put the first two tanks in today and I am super impressed. On the first tank I could already tell this thing has some cojones! On the second tank I did a full power climb out and this engine on CP15% blows the doors off my 32 on 30%. It seriously is bloody amazing! I can't wait to get her fully run in and wring out the whole thing.

Buy from Hiroshi. Prices vary with exchange rate. but I gave $136USD shipped.

I just received my 37 Friday and it looks to be manufactured in typical OS fashion with excellent quality and tolerances. The head, back plate, and casing have extra reinforcing webbing to give it a look of being exceptionally well built, very strong. There is only one area that didn't seem to be outstanding manufacturing.
The thing that caught my attention at first look that caused mixed feelings is how the carb attaches to the engine. Instead of using the single wedged spilt bolt to tighten the carb on to the engine such as on the OS50, OS uses the 2 seperate phillip head bolt arrangement, 180` apart, that passes thru the case and threads directly into the carb. In my opinion the has both positive and negative points to it.
Once the throttle linkage is set you're done with it. If you ever have to take the carb off of the engine, upon reassembly everything goes back together exactly the same. With the OS50 you have to take extra care upon reattaching the carb to the engine so the linkage all falls out just like it was prior to disassembly.
On the other hand,I've had problems with OS 46FX airplane engines that had the carb attached the way the OS 37 carb attaches. I 've had to deal with air leaks around the O ring on this type of mounting system and screwing directly into the carb proved to be a weak spot for breakage in the event of crashes.
It will be a while before this one cranks up so I will not be able to give any details on how mine runs. I sure hope it runs like it looks cause if it does, I will not be dissapointed.

When you put the two philips screws in make sure you put some red automotive silicone around the bolt if you do,, that will be the end of that,,I wouldn't worry about that,,guess it's just like the 32,,that ran fine for me no problems,,

Update
well... got her installed and got two tanks in before my crap-tastic muffler dropped a screw and I called it a day. On the second day, things were not so much. I fueled her up and gave it fire and nothing happened. Three plugs later I went home and tore it apart to find a broken ring. Total pisser. I think this is just an isolated incident because no one else has had this problem. I will have it fixed at the end of the week and start over again with the break in process.

This engine is the best thing you can do any 30 class ship. It has an awsome amount of power and made my rappy fly like a homesick angel!

Will post more later.

Piston ring Part #
I am currently searching for a replacement ring for my engine. I plaugged in the part # at tower's website and it gave me a piston ring for a the .40LX plank engine. I checked the part # twice and that is waht came up. Is there any reason why this ring would not work. The part # for the ring is 25403400. This was taken from the engilsh version of the manual I downloaded from this thread.

Why shouldn`t it work? Some of the engines share
different parts. In the sparepart list for the engine it
is the same number.
It look like that both engines have the same bore.

Got my OS37 on saturday last, got it in a few day Quicker than HELIPROZ,,anyways 132.00 shipped, damn good price, this engine looks good and I like the low end needle been on the same side as the high end, will fire it up this saturday if the weather holds. If this engine runs good it will probably take over the 30 size engine market like the 32 did. I love the 30 size class I didn't want to go with a fifty because I have a sixty,, could be the reason why a lot of people went with fifty because there wasn't a good 30 size engine out there, this may be the engine to do the job.

New ring on the way
Well...

I ordered the new ring last night after I got home from my local club meeting. I talked to a few of the plank engine guru's and they all said it would work simply because OS would not have two parts with the same stock #. I think the only difference in the engines is the stoke length anyway. I will have one of them put it on so I don't break it. I'll keep you updated once the ring is here and installed.

back in the saddle...
Hey fellas,

I got my new ring installed and put four tanks on her today. The engine is running very well and I have it leaned out to a turn and two clicks and the transition is realy, realy nice. I am very happy and am looking forward to some winter flying.
