I am using Duralite battery packs, and had a voltage regulator fail on me. Luckily, I was on the ground when it happened so no serious damage occured. It was scary though, watching the heli gyrate wildly on the ground at about half throttle for about 10 minutes until it ran out of fuel .
I know that with nicad packs you can use two packs and two switches for redundancy. I was wondering if it could be done with duralites and two regulators and switches. I tried it briefly on the bench and it seemed to work, but I don't know if it would do any damage to the regulators or the other electronics.
Does anyone out there do this, or know if it is OK to do? I would like to have redundancy, but don't want to create more problems than I am fixing.
