The 9251 will not work with the 502. I changed the Pulse Width to Narrow via the hidden menu on the 502 but the 9251 doesn't respond the way it should.

the price difference is not that great for the 502 and 601.

why even waste your time doing this? get a 601 and save yourself a lot of trouble.

i've looked at both in pieces... i do not believe they are the same, and i do not believe it can be converted properly. perhaps i'll take it if i hear it straight from the top at futaba.

The ds9251 will not work with a "stock" gy502 and narrow pulse, been there tried that got the t-shirt a couple of years ago.

As posted above and probably the reason it wont work.....

GY502 - Frame= 3.640ms (275hz)
GY602 - Frame= 3.000ms (333hz)

Is'nt the gy602 pumping out 21% more frames per second? Will the 9253/9254 hold up at the accelerated frame rate?

Let us know

Uh!
I may be mistaken, but I read on a different thread that is been done. What I can't remenber is if the 502 was modified one or stock. If I find the thread I will post the url here.

Never mind, this is the thread...

Hi,

I have question concerning the hidden 601 menus. Does anyone know the meanings of the abreviations? I would like to find a parameter to change the proprtional gain and the integral gain of the 601 separately?

Regards

Christian

since the 9254 is technically moves .01 faster than the 9251 (.06 vs .07) has anyone tried using a 9254 with a 601 gyro and will it work better?

The 9254 doesn't support the narrow pulse width produced by the 601. Maybe also the higher frame rate as well. So no go.

Hi Angelos

Very interesting posts but how does one "reconfigure the micro" to tell it it is a 601.

You need to fit the little resisotor on the top left corner of the CPU to make it aware that it is a GY601. You may also need to erase all settings via the engineering menu.

Hi Angelos

I fitted a 2k2 in the top left. It seems as if anything between 1k and 10k works. I didn't clear the eeprom but merely reset the gyro (from hidden menu). Works perfectly on the bench. Will let you know how the flight test goes.

Hi All

Copied the setttings from a new 601 into the converted 502 and flew it. Needed to change the following settings on my radio:-

Dropped exp on rudder from 16% to 10% (I tend to pull rudder during a roll).
Upped gyro gain from 80% to 92% (Tail is rock solid).
Dropped rudder ATV from 120% to 105% (Tail was much faster)

After 5 flights with the converted gyro with 9254 servo all's well and I'm happy.

By the way the IC - MAX1241CCSA can be sampled from Maxim.
Total Cost of conversion (Approx. ZAR to USD):-

1 X MAX1241CCSA - Free
3 X SMD Resistor - 15c
3 X SMD Capacitors - 90c

1.05

Time 0.5 hours

Regards

Sorry, I'm speaking Italian and my English is not so good.

The servo for my Gy 601 is in repair.

Is possible to attach the 9303 on the Gy 601?

Wath are the parameter to modify in the hidden menu?

Or is possible to attach the DS 8700G on the Gy 601?

Thanks, Peter::
