Registration and My Account

Becoming a RR member is a simple process that allows you to utilize all features of this forum, including:
  • Posting new topics
  • Replying to topics
  • Editing your posts
  • Receiving email notification of replies to posts and topics you specify
  • Sending private messages to other members
  • Entering events in the forum event list
  • Setting up a 'buddy-list' to quickly see which of your friends are currently online.

Registration is free and starts by clicking the REGISTER link which is located at the top of each page.

Next, choose a username, enter in your email address, password, location and time zone. Read the Site Usage Rules and when finished, click the SUBMIT and AGREE TO RULES button. Please note, that entering your email address will not leave you open to spam. Your email address will always remain hidden. Any email messages sent to you by members will not reveal your address.

To activate your account, check your email and confirm your registration by clicking on the RunRyder Confirmation Email link that is given to you. If the RunRyder Confirmation Email was blocked or not received within 5 minutes, please check if you correctly entered your email address. If you need to reenter your email, go to myHome and click Edit Profile. Change your email address and Submit Modifications.

Once you have responded to the confirmation email, RunRyder moderators will be notified of your registration. Please note that registrations are manually processed by RunRyder moderators, so you may experience a short delay in account activation. Once your registration is approved by a moderator, your member account will be activated and you will be able to fully use all the features on RunRyder.

If you have reviewed this FAQ and still have problems registering or activating your account, please pmRR.

Please note: All information gathered from the registration form is used by RunRyder for internal purposes only. Your email address will remain secure and hidden from all users of this website and forum. It cannot be used for spam.

Buddy and Ignore Lists

To add a RR member to your buddy or ignore list click on the member's name and again on their blue name to display their profile page. Then click the Yes/No switches in the Buddy Ignore columns.

You can view your complete buddy and ignore lists at myHOME. Your Buddy List displays either online status with minutes last active or offline status. For the Ignore List which follows Buddies, click the X next to the member's name to remove ignores from the list.

Ignore Feature Explained

If you add a member to your Ignore List:
  • You will not see the ignored member's post content in topic view.
  • You cannot PM or email the ignored member.

If you have been added to another member's Ignore List:
  • Except for classifieds, you cannot post reply to the ignorer's topics.
  • You cannot PM or email the ignorer.

♦ My Private Notes and Member Name Mouse Over Value (diamond)

In every member profile page, you can save private notes pertaining to that individual and assign a Member Name Mouse Over Value to help you identify the individual. Use the corresponding fields at the bottom of each member's profile page to add the information.

A ♦ symbol will be displayed in front of their member name to notify you that you have Private Notes and/or a Member Name Mouse Over Value for this individual.

As a logged in member, the Private Notes you create are only seen by you. Also, if you do not assign a Member Name Mouse Over value, the member's join date and location will display when you mouse over their name.
PM Display and Usage Errors

If your browser is displaying incorrect or out of date data, or you received an email notification that you have a new PM, but the new PM does not display in your Private Messaging area, you probably have a Cache Display Problem.

First, try a "View Refresh" by pressing Crtl-R or F5. If the error still persists, try deleting your temporary internet files (cache) and off line content: How to Clear Your Cache.

Your ISP could also cause problems by caching RR's pages.

Also see Automatic Page Display to resolve this problem.
