I'm afraid he's not joking, this highly dangerous method of tracking blades has been floating around the web for a while now and it is not the proper way to do it, you could get severely injured. Another wrong method is tying the helicopter down and running it up this is also very dangerous and very hard on the helicopter. I use the good old hover and watch the disk method, you can easly see if the blades are out of track, and make the needed adjustments.

You're right Carbon he's joking. I read a similar method used by a guy that was serious but he spooled up the heli to the point of getting light on the skids and then walked up to it and used a marker held in his hand to lightly touch the top of the rotors leaving a mark on the high blade. Talk about dangerous!

P.S. Oops I fell for that one.

Wow I always wondered how to do that

Your using 2 markers right one on each side cuz i bet that might throw the balance off to unless you use 2 markers. But looks sweet might try it later, so is it better to be closer to 1 or 3 inches?

Oh, I get it! LOL

or maybe not...

I doubt I'll be doing that any time soon. I'd sooner just not worry about my tracking than do that kind of foolishness...

My Raptor chases me enough as it is, I'm not going to give it that kind of chance to get me!!

Jay quit while your ahead

Get a friend to come out with ya and track them the old fashion way. Putting anything on your blades is a very bad idea. The tip speed on those blades is strong enought to throw anything off no matter how ya put it on. Also it changes the tip weights so your tracking will not be on anyways. Better safe then missing body parts.

I'm not getting the pic up on my pc but I did find the heavy blade on a ceiling fan once with the marker trick. I'd never try it on a heli though!

These post just don't make any sense when the guy that starts the thread deletes his messages.
