OK, here's the deal. I managed to buy a brand new (2 months old) JR 10X Airplane version for 400.00. I want to use this radio with my Raptor 60. I was under the impression that this radio had heli software built in but I can seem to confirm this with the documentation. I just sold my Futaba 9ZHP.... Hmmmmmmm.... regrets??????
Can anyone tell me if the JR 10X Airplane version will be OK to fly the Raptor?

You may be outta luck

For some reason, JR's lesser radios like the 8103 are dual mode (airplane or heli). But the Top-of-the-Line PCM is a dedicated system. Beats me why they do that. I have a PCM 10 Heli that I also use to fly planks - I just disable all the heli-specific mixing functions. When I wanted to do flaperon mixing, the radio wouldn't do it. I found a deal on a used 10-X airplane version. Not an ideal solution, but it works.

So, you may be out of luck. (Sorry) Of course, it's possible that I'm wrong. And if I am, it will no doubt be pointed out.

Sigh....

The biggest fault of the JR 10 series is that it only has software for
one discipline.

You can do it...it's possible...but I wouldn't advise it.

You really should have kept the 9Z.

I just checked http://www.horizonhobby.com/product...sp?prod=JRP1646**&pc=JRP1646** and according to them it looks like it will work for heli's, 8 point throttle and pitch curves, gyro settings and all check out the site I didn't read it all just glanced at it quick. If all else fails maybe they could reprogram it for you.

Upon closer inspection it would apear that you bought your-self one heck of a nice plank radio.

Yup it works.

Contrary to what most people think the JR-10X airplane radio can be programmed to do absolutely everything you need in a helicopter.

I have one programmed with CCPM, Governor, throttle hold and flight modes with throttle curves, pitch curves and everything and the best part is that as opposed to the heli version this one can be used with a buddy box.

I posted a guide to program a 10X for high performance full house competition glider in my slope soaring page and I think it's about time I put together one for programming the airplane 10X for a high-end heli.

JR Radio

Sell your Raptor and buy a Hoverstar. The Hoverstar is fixed pitch you should be all set...

Or, you can shop around and find a used MFA Sport 500. It's fixed pitch too.

Then again, there is always the LMH 110...
