Thanks Scott3 I read all of those posts but they don't tell me anything about how to get it off. I will have to email CY and see what happens. Thanks

Cutis replied saying to use a sos pad with water

This is Curtis Y. This is my first post into runryder. I saw the comment about the gold muscle pipe and I thought I would add a comment. The pipe did turn gold because of a clear coat added to the muscle pipe by the manufacturer. And yes, I agree, clear coat being added to a pipe sounds nuts. That was the same thought I had when I found out they had done that. This is the fun new adventure I have found myself in now that I am producing my own products. I honestly never even imagined them painting a pipe so I did not check for it. Only about 30 or so of these pipes got sent out in the US before we caught it. And it can be cleaned off using water and an SOS pad. The SOS pad will leave a nice shinny finish.

Or you can send it back for a replacement where you bought it. I have even had a couple of people send me the pipes, I cleaned them up and sent them back. It takes a little bit of elbow grease and about 15 minutes.

I hope this clears it up.

Best Regards, Curtis

I did mine and you can see very fine scratches it left in the finish. It's not very noticeable unless you look real close.

you should be able to polish the rest of the clear coat off with a buffing wheel and a lower abrasive compound (red rouge) i wouldnt touch it with an SOS or any steel wool, you could try soaking it in mineral spirits, that might take it off. paint remover will ruin it so dont try that!

I agree, the gold looks cool but................... after a while the color will more than likely get darker, mixed with the oil crusting it up, sooner or later it will probably start to chip off and look crappy, I'd just take it off now.
