How long did it take from first flight to simple aerobatics, like a stall turn?

Two years but that was in 1975 and my first heli (Heli baby) was fixed pitch so not possible. Then I got a Kavan Jet Ranger and with the "Beller" mods I did my first roll and loop (no gyros either) so I am a slow learner

Took me 1.5 years......

But, I don't fly as much as I'd like to, and I fly alone. If I flew at a club, it probably would have been about 3 months. Guys at clubs help check setups to make sure your heli can do 3D.......and there is a bit of friendly compitition, which pushes you a bit too!!

Have Fun!!

in the first year - I was too busy consuming - buying stuff and learning how to put it together which I had no clue - I was doing it with out help. as oppose to learning how to fly which took only a few months.

Less than a month (1 gallon of fuel). I am and was a fair airplane pilot prior to helis. I found the setup was the hardest part to learn.

I'd be interested in a new post asking how many gallons from first hover to first FF, to first aerobatics. (specify on a 30 or 60).

I would agree with Remy that fuel is a better assesment of how fast you learned. If I burn 6 gallons per month and learn in a month is that the same as a guy that burns 1 gallon per month and learned in 6 months?

PS - 4 gallons and 2 months to stall turns, I think. I was not counting at the time and the first month was confined to a small back yard.

Thanks to that great G2 simulator, I was doing loops, rolls, stall turns, hovering backward and forward flips before I burned the first gallon of fuel. But, I have also been flying planks for 20+ years, if that's any help.
