Hi,
After reviewing various threads on the tuning and breakdowns of the OS GT15HZ, I found out on the OS Japan website, they launched a new OS GT15HZ II heli gas engine. Has anyone of you heard of it?. Im working on my Freya Evo 90 and already got the frame for the GT15 engine. I trust OS and I really want to give it a try to this engine. I plan to fly strictly scale. Your comments will be apreciated.

After having blown 3 gt15's, I will wait until the new model is well proven.

I went through two of those engines in my freya just doing simple forward flight with a 1500rpm head speed..... it would be nice to believe the new one is better, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I love the idea though.

I suppose the questions are, what was failing, what is "new" about the new engine, and do these two questions overlap. I have this picture of a venn diagram in my head.

If the connecting rod was failing and OS put on a new backplate on the engine, I wouldn't expect a lot. The circles don't intersect. If, on the other hand, the ring/piston were burning up on the old engine, and the new engine includes a redesigned piston, it could be worth a second look.

I received an email from OS customer support in Japan and I was told the Version II engine would be available in the US in October/September this year. Lets hope for the good the issues are fixed.

I thought about trying this motor some time back but didn't like the reports.
Hopefully the new one is a success and they'll eventually make it available with a recoil starter and integrated ignition system!

The lot I got is not a lot, but I thank God a lot for the lot I got!

I would love one in my Freya. I’m not concerned about the power output as it will be adequate for me, it’s the longevity that worries me. It would certainly beat my current $10 flights.

I will need some pretty reliable proof before spending my hard earned.

After the first version, I'm skeptical. I went through two of them just puttering around in forward flight.

I would love for this to be a legit engine. $4 a gallon sounds pretty good to me for sport flying...
