I need some servo recommendations for the TR on my 60 nitro heli with a 6.0V battery and a 401 gyro. Do not want Futaba 9254 due to having to reduce the voltage. Looking for high speed (.06- .08sec/60degrees)
and moderate cost. Thanks!

I don't own the below servo so I can't recommend them based on experience; however, others seem to love them and they seem to meet your requirement for "reasonable cost". You will have to confirm the 401 will function with a 760us servo.

Isn't the 401 rated at 6.0 volts? Aren't you already looking at having to run a regulator for the gyro? Won't the gyro restrict you from running an unregulated LiPo/LiIon set up? Given the voltage restriction of the gyro, you could just run the 9254.

The 401 gyro is rated for 6.0 volts and I am using a 5 cell (NiMH) pack which is 6.0 v. The Futaba 9254 is rated for 4.8 v which would need a resistor added. Thanks for your input. More suggestions are welcomed.

You'd want a diode or two, not a resistor. I've had good luck using home-built voltage step downs with diodes with S9253/54 servos and other servos rated for 4.8V. I'm using Life 2s packs.

Kst 525 is my choice for a tail servo. It's been great in a few birds. Otherwise promodeler is great too

Checked out the specs. on the KST 525. Sounds like a heck of a servo for the money. I have located one on Ebay, otherwise not easy to find. Many hobby shops do not even carry KST. Where do you get yours? Thanks!

I'm running the above mentioned Pro-Modeler servo in one of my heli's. Good solid servo for the money and you get awesome customer support from John.

nappyroots2182: Do you use KST servos on collective, cyclic, and throttle? If yes, which models (servo #)? Thanks!

We are flying goblin 500s. 589 on collective, 525 on tail. Using 725s on a plank. Been really good

Align DS655 is rated at 6.0v and is very fast. HOWEVER, I would always advise stepping down even a 6v rated servo when it is on the tail and none regulated (5 cell Ni-Mh can be around 7v fully charged) especially if it is a nitro or gasser. If you absolutely have to run 6v then look at a HV tail servo.

60% of the time, it works every time!
