IMAC is still pretty strong-big ticket planes, and strong vendor sales, may be a good advertising option-my own humble opinion.
Thanks for all the work you have been doing here, i still log on every day

Does this mean we are going to start seeing ads for cars, boats and jets on the Helicopter side?

I'm not sure I have the vision yet. I can't clearly picture what you've got in mind.

You might consider coming at it from a Land, Sea, and Air perspective. The Mercedes 3 sided emblem represents the companies commitment to land, sea and air. These three arenas seem to have natural boundaries and could lend themselves to categorization. I would confess I don't really believe in this approach.

The issue I struggle with is that "modeling" can be anything from 29¢ wind-up free flight model to a $20,000 R/C turbine and there are few gaps in the continuum. "Modeling" is something of an amoeboid blob and seems to not lend itself well to being put in boxes.

For instance: "Scale" modeling, and the tips and techniques associated with building scale models, spans across cars, helicopters, boats, airplanes, etc. Those that build scale helicopters would likely benefit from discussions with scale jet modelers. An instrument panel in a jet doesn't look too different from a panel in a helicopter or boat - so do you call scale modeling land, sea or air?

Most forums that try to cover multiple areas of modeling seem to become increasingly fractured over time. This might be a slightly tacky suggestion (and there is a very good chance you've done this already) but have you drifted over to RCUniverse and looked at their forum divisions? It is byzantine.

Something that seems clear is that if you do choose to build a site that spans multiple areas of modeling, you must have a good search function. As an example, RCU's forum is fractured into a 1,000 pieces and the last time I looked they functionally have no search engine. If I want to look up "LiPo battery storage" I don't care if it's in boats, cars to helicopters. I just want to read about "battery storage".

Sorry if this all seems a little unfocused. I've tried to clean it up but the nature of your question is difficult and I'm afraid it is reflected in this post.

Possible new forums:

Fixed Wing FPV
Old Timers
Control Line

BTW, our RC club recently brought into the club a control line group as our flying field had ample room for control line circle(s). As we do for any event, the field was closed to open flying to accommodate our first CL meet. To my surprise (and many other RC guys) the place was absolutely packed - parking lot and all flat ground had cars. Entrants from five states. I never thought CL held that much interest.

I am curious how peripheral subject areas would be accommodated in a new multi - Runryder format. I spend more time than I would care to admit in OFF-TOPICS POLITCAL and all the CLASSIFIED sections. Would those peripheral subject areas be unique to helicopter forums or combined among all forums of the new Runryder?

I also understand the motivation for change to Runryder and hope it ultimately produces what you are looking for. Understand that I am an old guy and old guys don't like change. MY God....I have become my father!

The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Deciding on site granularity (groups of forums) is what I need to determine.

Giant scale
3D planes
Group together or a whole site just for each?

I need site definitions (groups of forums) for aircraft?
Thanks for logging in.

Would you prefer non RC (off topic) click bate. I don't want to go down that road. RR's business model might be too idealistic.

July first is my self imposed deadline for things changing. The last few years of RR development has been non stop 7 days a week. On the plus side I have learned a lot from the exercise.

Yes RR needs to pay the bills.

Yes but with more granularity.

What are the new RR site definitions (groups of forums) going to be? Each RR site should attract like mined individuals.

Yes I agree. See my first post: "scale (all types?)"

Yes search will provide the granularity that's needed. For instance, battery discussion forums will most likely reside on the /site/home/ page. Or do we need a site (/electric/home/) just for batteries and things related (motor-esc-controller)?

I think "Fixed Wing FPV" would go under /drone-hobby/home/.

A whole site just for control line? Or part of /airplane/home/? Right now RR consists of just one site /helicopter/home/.

Off topics and politics would continue on the /site/home/ page with the same Start Here exclusion ability. RR Heli classifieds would be moved to /classifieds/home/ page. This new site would cover all RC stuff for sale with filtering for "helicopters" and the like.

Hopefully the change will increase site traffic. If not I will be getting a new job. Thanks for the feedback.

Would Runryder be opposed to RC Cars/Truck? There is a big following in these category. I do own RC Trucks.

Guarantied for RC Cars/Truck! See my first post. How many RC surface sites and their names? Is one enough?

Can this be done in just the one site /surface/home/ as we already do with helis?

You already have the name. I would just have different tabs off the home page for the different boards.

On my browsers RR runs super narrow, perhaps add tabs to the left header?

How many boards (sites) and what are there names?

The new RR (site) home page will have links to the following...

Helicopter
Drone-hobby
Drone-business
Events
Classifieds
Places

These are my ideas so far.
