Here is my blunt message to POTUS Trump, tread carefully here. There is a thing called false flag events. Just understand, every world power has their hands dirty. There may be a chemical attack, but I believe it is the rebels provoking the west to take military action.

This is why we should not be involved in foreign wars. Everything is corrupt and dirty. Only the innocents die for the corrupt.

The middle east is not a place to waste American lives. Viet Nam should have taught us that.

I saw a piece on LBJ in the oval office calling congressmen to support his efforts in Viet Nam.

LBJ's point was: if we abandon South Viet Nam, the north will over run it and turn it into commies.

LBJ was correct in his first thoughts, but he never went to step 2 by asking if American lives were worth the cost of saving South Viet Nam.

Because LBJ was correct in assessing what would happen to South Viet Nam, he assumed he was correct in his later actions...he was wrong and many Americans died for NOTHING.

Yup, I agree with you. Gulf of Tonkin resolution was a false flag in my opinion.

A couple of things:
The Gulf of Tonkin was just one more event in a long line of events that started with the US desire to "Contain China".
"Contain China" did not specifically mean "Contain Communism".

As Robert McNamara said (as quoted in the "Pentagon Papers" ):
... the Chinese were conspiring to "organize all of Asia" against the United States:
China—like Germany in 1917, like Germany in the West and Japan in the East in the late 30's, and like the USSR in 1947—looms as a major power threatening to undercut our importance and effectiveness in the world and, more remotely but more menacingly, to organize all of Asia against us.
Hummm..."... threatening to undercut our importance and effectiveness in the world."
Sounds familiar.
Replace the word "China" with Iran, Iraq, Al-Qaeda, ISIS or Syria.

Viet Nam was a lesson that the US should have been learned, and somehow written as the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
But, it wasn't.
Every administration since then has always thought
"This event is different"
"This time, its different"
"I am too smart to make those mistakes".
"Watch out for our new, smarter missiles"

Same song, different tune.

Believe 1/2 of what you see and none of what you hear.
Fake News will be the downfall of our Republic!

Yes, allow me to make simple phrase. It's all BS! Unfortunately there are people paying for it with their blood.

You hit the nail on the head.

As much as I despise the Democrat leftists, I have to admit they are the same as the GOP as far as fueling the war drums.

It was Madeleine Albright that said: "We think the price is worth it." That was in response to Lesley Stahl when she asked her "We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?"

Albright also said: "But if we have to use force, it is because we are America; we are the indispensable nation. We stand tall and we see further than other countries into the future, and we see the danger here to all of us."

I think Albright reflected the general attitude of the warmongers in DC that goes on today...we can bomb the crap out of other nations because we have decided to do it and we are justified because we are who we are...better than everybody else.

Ike warned the US about the dangers of the industrial complex in the US before he left office.

What do we gain by bombing Syria?...is Assad a horrible person?...yeah, but he doesn't threaten my city as much as illegals do.
