I don't usually post very much on these threads because most of the time from what I have read they go from someone trying to share information or their opinion to ugly arguments. This being said I've done some research here on the subject. To say the least I've gotten conflicting reports. Last summer I decided to buy a set for myself. So I'll share my opinion. yes I said opinion. I have been flying what would be called the conventional blades since I started 17 years ago. Then I tried the helix then the Cyclone. I enjoyed them but I'll just say they weren't for me. Everything is a trade off. I'm always looking for a new blade design. What I find amusing is I'll see people spend embarrassing amounts of money on their ships then buy cheap blades or fb controller. My opinion the flybarless controller and blades will change the way a model flies more than anything. So as I said I read the reviews on the new VTX blades some were favorable others said they are to aggressive, grabby or no different than others. I've seen others boom strike these as well.

Most flybarless blades in a 695 range are between 188 to 205 grams per blade. I'm a 3-d flyer so for me when the weight gets above 197 they feel slow and sluggish. They will track better but my opinion (for me) don't work as well for what I like. I was a little disappointed when I weighed my first set of 697 VTX blades because they weighted 206 grams per blade. I have a Koll balancer so I always check the cg's too. The cg's were spot on.
I bolted them on WITH OUT CHANGING ANY THING in the fb controller. The first thing I noticed is they create more lift on the collective.
then I did a simple flip and was amazed how fast they were. Then forward flight and some light 3-d and now I see why they were called aggressive and grabby. As fast as they were they were very stable. In my experience the lighter blades are faster but less stable the trade off. After getting a feel for them I had a good idea what I wanted to change in the fb unit. I use the v-bar silver line and blue line. The simplest changes (for me) was needed. 1 degree less pitch on collective most important I pulled my cyclic pitch slider down from 80 to 70 yes 10. That got rid of the gabby feel and made the pitch and roll (yank rate feel not agility) about the same as what I was use to. I've also read were others claimed more flight time. I did not experience this. The flight times for me appear to be the same. Now I have a model that is as fast as I like and at the same time stable and I use less pitch in the maneuvers on the collective. A very enjoyable experience. They auto really nice. Finally a set a blades with no trade off wow. Now I wish VTX would make a set in the 600 to 630 range.
I gave up a blade sponsor I was using for I don't know maybe 8 to 10 years to fly these and no I am not sponsored by VTX.

I fly the 697s on all 3 of my 700s. I have 4 different sets of edge, a set of rails, and 2 sets of different Radix hanging on the wall collecting dust. The VTX just seem to be made for the Neo Vbar. The logo 700 didn’t need a click of adjustment out of the box on them. Just perfect.

The 550s aren’t bad either on my X5 stretch, though I’ve only flown the rail 550s in comparison.

I’m just upset VTX shelved the 105 tails or I’d probably be flying them as well. The limited reviews sounded promising.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Now that you mention that I do remember reading about the tail blades they were working on. Yes to bad they shelved that one. I haven't tried the new logo. I've seen a few last year. The owners said they fly heavy. Then I saw a quite a few for sale here last year. I have my eye on the new Align 700X.

I can only speak to the new 700. But at sub 12lbs it’s one of the lightest disc loaded 700s I’ve ever flown. I got rid of my old logo 600. I thought it was perfect. But the 700 is better. Just imo. But “heavy” isn’t on the list of adjectives I have for it.

if it ain't broke, break it.

I fly the VTX 697 blades on my Goblin 700 Black Nitro
The main reason I stretched the G650BN to 700 was because I could use the VTX 697 blades.
They are really nice

Their design makes if feel like you are flying a longer blade. But they are more efficient and added almost 1 min to the flight time.

Believe 1/2 of what you see and none of what you hear.
Fake News will be the downfall of our Republic!

I flew Radix on my Nitros, but well....you know. Loved Helix blades on my electrics. Now have Synergy blades.

Will pickup a set of the VTX blades to try. Thanks for the testimonial.
