Sad, but it was garbage. They really failed with the drone side.

I wonder if this is the beginning of the demise of the drone market. The bottom end is totally saturated with cheap crap and most people who want a drone have been, bought, busted and given up.

The top end of the market is still there and I think will remain, but slowly reduce as those who have bought a top end machine have what they need, but of course, there is always a better one coming out.

The other thing this news article brought to mind is how long can Go Pro stick around with all the cheap Chinese ripoffs coming on the market. I bought 3 cheap ones for my Grandkids to go diving with over Christmas and I got 4K cameras with a waterproof housing etc for about $50 each and I had dozens to choose from. Why pay 10 times as much for a Go Pro?

GoPro is out because they screwed up.
Not because the drone market is shrinking.

They introduced their drone is Oct in time for the holiday buying season.
And, they would randomly fall out of the sky.
So, they had to stop shipment and refund all the people that bought them.

It isn't the first time a company went to market with a design that was not fully tested.

Drones Drones Drones

I think GoPro stumbled badly before getting a drone on the market. Drones are much more difficult than cameras. They way underestimated the difficulty. Sometimes (GoPro) throwing money at a problem does not result in a solution.

I own both companies products. I like them, but like apple, they are overpriced and not modular. They do not play well with others in the sandbox. I really hope that DJI is not left alone to determine the future of flight controllers. I absolutely hate the geo-boxing of the DJI.

DJI also seems to be heading towards P-n-P aircraft. We need good competition in the market.

I love the GoPro, but I have 4 and will not be purchasing any in the future. The Yi is so much cheaper. The major camera manufacturers will be shutting down the GoPro market space with better products. I also see new sensors coming on the market that will change everything.

Check out the Yuneek series of drones. I've been flying mine for three years as of this month. No issues at all. Very satisfied.

P-n-P aircraft
Please explain what that stands for.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

To be honest, gopro never really impressed me much, had decent video, but the sound always sounded like you were listening through a piece of pipe, really annoying, As well as the crappy round lens profile.
Cant say I would miss them.
