My included S-Bus cable is a bit to short for my application. Does it matter what cable I use or does it have to be the provided S-Bus cable from Futaba?

No, it does not matter. Just use a good brand if it were me, not some junk crimps and connectors.

I am assuming it is the cable between your receiver and FBL gyro?

Makes no differences. In the past I've made my own using two male ends of servo extensions.

Heavy gage and short(ish) is desirable. In most installations the battery is plugged into the RX and power is then passed to the FBL unit and all servos via this single cable.

If possible use two power leads from the RX to FBL. A power lead is an S.Bus lead with the white wire removed.

"quality wire and crimping tool" means different things to different people. Try running 3 Amps thought it and MEASURE the voltage drop. The HANSEN HOBBIES DELUXE is NOT A QUALITY CRIMPING TOOL.

In many installations this requires a Y-harness as often all the slots in the FBL unit are taken up.

Yes, unfortunately I know of only one HD FBL with a power connector. Our connectors are barely adequate for a single servo and certainly not for 3 or 4 (or 12 in an IMAC plane).

I remember before these were standard connectors.
